STORY:

It's the year 1999 and nothing much has changed on our Blue Planet. But stop! How about these UFOs, which were recently seen in the sky? It seems that the lifeforms inside the space-objects aren't very friendly. Women and men very kidnapped, brought inside large laboratory-like crafts and were examined by alien doctors. Alien terror commandos landed in the biggest cities on earth sawing chaos and destruction. Construction ships built large bases hidden in the desert and mountains from where alien spy crafts starting their flights over the planet. The nations tried to bring up some line of defense, but no country could even down one enemy ship. Forced by failure the largest countries in the world created the X-Com Organisation, which should aided by all countries, equipped with the modernst war stuff available and guided by you face the extraterrestrial treat...

WARDIARY:

At first you have to build a base, where your troops, aircrafts and storage facilities are. Best choice is Europe, as the area is small and all europeen countries together give much more money in compare to USA or Japan alone (tough each give much less than one of them). Now you have a base equipped with two american interceptors and a russian troop-transporter for 12 men (of course women, too). Ten scientists are waiting for your commands, as ten engineers do. You hire some additional mercenaries to fill the troop-transporter completly and equip them with rifles, grenades and ammo. Having finished the preparations so far you enter the world map again, and begin to wait (i.e. turning the time-compress on). Some days later your staff will report an UFO within the radar-range. Immediately the two interceptor are lunched and take on the chase for the intruder. The UFO tries to escape but is downed by six striking Avalanche-rockets, which at once calls the troppers to come. But night begins to fall and so the tropps are additionaly equipped with light-grenades for better seeing in the dark. And then the attack begins. 12 heavily armed men enter the battle field. The first man takes his step in the round based combat field, but is immediately interrupted by an enemy who takes an reaction shot. A green plasma been crosses the distance and hits the first man, who is instantly dead. The moral of the eleven remaining is droping a bit, but the resists from panic. The next man leaving the craft and quickly hides behind the landing-gear of the tropp-transporter. He takes his light grenade from his belt and throws it in direction of the shot. The dark area is enlighted and revealing an enemy hiding behind a tree. The man has used this action points and cannot take any action before next turn's coming. The next soldier a women jumps out the craft, carefully aims, shots and hits...but the alien only grins and pumps out a auto-shot plasma ammo, which misses the women by inches. With the remaining time she runs left and hides herself behind a little wall by kneeling. The other men climb out of the craft, most of them fail hitting the alien, but with the last man they succeded in killed the bastard. Times is up and the only way is to pray and press the "NEXT TURN" Button. Black-Screen rules as the aliens act in the darkness. Suddenly the battle field is up again and you see an alien walking on the top of an building getting himself in an excelent position to shot. One man tries an reaction-shot but fails. And the result is that a grenade drops from above on the poor troopers killing 5 of them and leaving 4 hurted. Panic comes across the soldiers. Only one is able to face his fear and win. An Auto-Shot in the next turn makes the alien turning in an corpse. But the battle seems to be lost. The hurted troopers suffer from dangerous wounds which can only be treated by the medikit, but which is under research home in the base by our 10 scientists. So the weapon the first alien dropped is grabbed and the mission is aborted after every one alive got back to the transporter. -92 points is the poor result of the mission. Home again the scientists have succeded with the medikits which the engineers allready producing for combat enseigment. When the scientists see the alien weapon the allready turn mad and at once starting to look for the weapons. The wounded soldiers are been put under medical observation and new ones are hired in replacement. The brave soldier which shoted the alien after the desasterous grenade is promoted to Leutnant and gains a some better shotting stats.
