Carthage

by Philippe Bondurand

The purple band represents the murex shell, a Phonecian product, which helped make the Carthaginians rich. The blue represents the Mediteranian sea, as the Carthaginians were great mariners. The white represents the silver mines of their homeland. The elephant was an important Carthaginian military piece, and often featured in their coinage.
