 1807Deciding that Beunos Aires was too much trouble, Auchmuty said the heck with it and captured Montevideo on the Uraguayan side of the River Platte.
 1813Battle of Niquitas. Bolivar's Comlumbian Patriots defeated Spanish Royalists.
 1852Battle of Monte Caseros. Insurgents defeat Argentine President Rosas, who fled to England ending Gaucho domination in the Argentine Republic.
