 1014Battle of Clontarf. Large force of scandinavian invaders routed by the Irish.
 1547Battle of Mühlberg. Losing only fifty men, Imperial troops defeated German Protestants near Leipzig.
 1752With 200 men, Robert Clive captured the fortress of Covelong from the French.
 1778Battle of Carrickfergus. John Paul Jones in Ranger defeated H.M.S. Drake. First American victory over British navy.
 1885Battle of Fish Creek. Canadians were unable to drive rebels from a strong position near Fish Creek.
 1918First tank-v-tank combat outside Villers-Bretonneux. One German tank knocked out a British tank, but was itself hit and abandoned. German crew later retrieved tank and it fought again.
