 1138Battle of the Standard. Invading Scots defeated by English. The banners of several saints were carried in a wagon in the midst of the English army hence the name of the battle.
 1485Battle of Bosworth Field. Deserted by his erstwhile supporters, Richard III was defeated by The Duke of Richmond (Henry VII).
