 1914Battle of the Falklands. H.M.S. Invincible, Inflexible, Kent, Cornwall, Glasgow, Bristol, Otranto, Macedonia and Canopus destroy German squadron consisting of Gneisenau, Scharnhorst, Leipzig, and Nurnberg. British casualties were 10 men killed and 15 wounded.
 1941U.S. declares war on Japan.
