Learn about Patriot's Day ... April 19

April 19th is the anniversary of the true birthday of Americans. On April 19th in 1775, on the Green at Lexington, Americans were born. At the moment the first shots were fired, that group of armed, middle-aged farmers and shopkeepers ceased to be British Colonists and became Americans. At Concord's North Bridge they fired the "...Shot heard 'round the world..," directly into the heart of the Divine Right of kings. They weren't fiery, rebellious youth caught up in righteous passion of the moment. They were sober, deliberative men with families and property and much to lose. Unlike youth, they understood their personal mortality, but stood their ground, driven by their own, deep-running passion. Honor them, we owe them everything. Oh, yes, if ONE word were removed from this narrative, it would not have been written, it could not have been written. That word is "armed".

    A Word about the CCW Movement

    I think that people who live in states that do not require a license to possess a handgun should give very careful consideration to the following arguments. If you require a license to even own a handgun, then CCW does not add any particular burden or peril to your life. CCW (concealed carry weapons) permits could be a bad thing for a few reasons :

    1. People are registering themselves and their arms. This could lead to easy confiscation at a later date. We should not have to get a license to exercise a right. I wonder how much a first amendment license will cost next year?
    2. It gives credence to firearms licenses. We are, in effect legitimizing their infringement of our right to keep and bear arms.
    3. It is a red herring of sorts. While valuable money and energy is being spent on preserving our rights, the real problem (the criminals) are not getting our FULL ATTENTION.

    That said, here's some information ...

    - although, even if natural law and the protections afforded by the 2nd Amendment are ignored (it's happening NOW), this protection REALLY SHOULD be covered by the 14 Amendment.

    ANTI Self-Defense, Hunting, &Firearm Organizations

    I will boycott and actively fight these organizations, and the businesses and individuals who support them. Keep in touch with what they are telling people. One of the deep perversities of 'gun control' is that it is most likely to keep firearms away from people who wouldn't misuse them and it is least likely to affect the behavior of people who are truly dangerous. By depriving law-abiding folks of the best means for self-defense, gun restrictions unquestionably make life safer for the violent criminals. Remember ... keep your friends close, and keep your enemies closer.
