EMPLOYMENT :
Allina Health Systems, MN USA - Network Administrator/ System Analyst April 1997 - present
5601 Smetana Dr.
Minnetonka, MN 55343-5012 USA
·
Allina Health System is one of the major Health Insurance companies in the US Midwest area. It is a non profit organisation and it owns 10 metro and regional hospitals and lots of clinics all over Minnesota, South and North Dakota, Wisconsin and Iowa. Their Credentialing Division is in charge with verifying Physicians credentialings (education, work experience, malpractice claims and any actions ever taken against a physician)·
Initially, I joined the IS department as a special designated support staff for the Credentialing Division, since they were the first group migrating from a DOS environment to a Windows NT one.·
Two month down the road, the Network Administrator position for that group became available and it was a logical choice to be promoted. Daily tasks were administration of NT servers and domains, creating and administrating user accounts and user groups, seamless integration of the NT servers with the existing Novell NetWare network, configuring and installing NT4.0 workstations and servers (Mirror and Raid 5), creating and running daily and weekly backup and restore jobs on the NT servers using Cheyeene's ARCserve for Windows NT.·
Being the only one familiar, both with the technical and business aspects of the Credentialing Division, I also have to provide 24 hours on call support, technical support for credentialing database, and other productivity software (MS Office, Lotus CC:Mail). Starting with last November, I have been assigned several other tasks like data analysis, creating and distributing reports in Seagate Crystal Reports as requested.
Alternative Resource Corporation - Lead Team & Level 3 Helpdesk Technician for Allina Health System April 1996-April 1997
3800 West 80th Street, suite 900
Bloomington, MN 55431
USA
·
Alternative Resource Corporation is a consulting group based in Chicago, IL, USA. It provides technology and management solutions as well as specialised contracting staff to a wide variety of clients throughout USA. One of their important clients was Allina Health System.·
I have been assigned to Allina's Help Desk Operation Centre, as a level 2 Help-Desk Operative mainly dealing with end-user application support for 1,400 users. Duties involved logging, tracking and resolution of fault calls and support questions on the phone, and liasing with other departments within IS to resolve other network or application specific problems. I also had remote access via pcAnywhere, ReachOut etc. to directly resolve some problems for a large number of home users. Shortly after that, I became their remote access specialist, and all the calls for such problems were directed to me.·
I quickly moved to level 3 support dealing more with network/enterprise issues along with communication, WAN and Internet problems. As a result I have been granted supervisory rights on the Novell network.·
I was frequently called in to other sites (Regional hospitals) to help other engineers resolve difficult problems on their network systems, especially in the areas of Wide Area and Internet connectivity and remote access on mission critical solutions. Finally, for my last 6 (five) month at this assignment I have been given the leading role for the technical team (8 Help Desk operatives and 2 LAN analysts). In this new role, I had to continue performing my daily tasks, as well as team building, training new Help-Desk Operatives, facing difficult or unsatisfied users. One of my major achievements under the contract was the transformation of the Help Desk Department into a Call Resolution Centre, where more than 90% of the calls were solved over the phone. As a result, down time was reduced from an average of 30 minutes per PC per month to 10 minutes per PC per month.·
The nature of the company as Health Insurance vendor and health care provider, along with the the diverse nature of legacy systems , due to the multitude of mergers and acquisitions the company went through, gave me an exceptional breadth of experience, especially for the Novell, Server Applications, Internet connectivity, Remote access and Customer service.·
Poliac Research Corporation - Network Administrator January 1996-April 199612233 Wood Lake Drive
Burnsville, MN 55337 USA
·
Poliac Research Corporation is a small, relatively unstructured consulting company providing Software Engineering and Embedded Systems for the medical and other high-technology companies.·
I joined their team as a Network Administrator for a small Windows NT 3.51 network (40 end-users). My daily tasks were administrating user accounts, Network administration on a Windows NT 3.51 based network, designing, installing and implementing hardware & software solutions. Apache Web Server (running on a Linux box) and E-mail administration, building and maintaining the client/server environment needed by the programming team, hardware and software troubleshooting, installing software and running weekly and daily (incremental) backups, were also part of my responsibilities.·
Due to the large increase in the sales and the shortage of programmers within the company, at the beginning of April, new responsibilities were assigned to me. I started to write lines of code in C and C++, helping the senior programmers with their projects.G & K Services - Z-rack Operator/Office Assistant November 1994- January 1995
2120 N. Washington Av.
Minneapolis, MN 55210
USA
·
Being my first job in the United States, I first started as a Z-rack operator within the plant. A month later, when the General manager became aware of my background, I was promoted into the Sales Office Assistant position. Here my responsibilities were data entry, word processing, inventory reports using MS Office, and Lotus 1-2-3, setting up meetings for the team members.Save the Children, Denmark - Assistant to General Manager 1992- September 1994
Str. Dr. Bagdazar, No. 1
Craiova 1100, Dolj
USA
·
First started as a part time translator/interpreter for the Danish Consulting teams. At the end of 1992, I have been offered a full time job as Assistant to General Manager, with a focus on all the Computer operations related to the project in Dolj, Romania.·
As part of my job description, I had to design & build a small network based on WINDOWS 3.11 for workgroups with 15 users and a Windows NT 3.51 server. Once the network was up and running, my daily tasks switched to hardware maintenance and support, software installations and testing, running backup jobs. Developed security policies and procedures.·
Since the project in Romania was funded through donations from PHARE and other European Organisms/programs, monitoring the operations was one of the main tasks of the office. Therefore, in co-operation with an English programmer developed and implemented a secured environment to allow access to multiple computing resources (database, calculator, notebook) as well as other internal resources on the PC's.·
Considering running and administering such a small network doesn't take to much time my other responsibilities were organisational design and analysis, project planning and management. team building. Also I had to take over producing and analysing information (newsletters, quarterly and annual financial and narrative reports) for the headquarters in Copenhagen, European Community and Romanian Government. Together with the General Manager of the Project administrated a $ 2,000,000 budget.COSA-INTARF Craiova, Romania - Network Administrator 1992- 1993
·
Network administrator for a Novell 3.1 network. In charge with hardware and software troubleshooting, implementing new applications, and administrating over 100 user accounts. Planning and implementing security policies for the network. Another major task was keeping the labs up and running, virus protection for each individual computer as well as for the network.·
Being in such a volatile environment, where different users would access the same PC at different times helped me built up my troubleshooting skills. The multitude and complexity of problems created by my colleagues was beneficial since it help me learn how to deal with stressful situations, where problems have to be solved on the spot.
OUTSIDE INTERESTS AND ACHIEVEMENTS:
I enjoy playing volleyball and soccer. My favourite hobby is acting and I love watching theatre plays. Learning new languages have always been one of my strengths, therefore I can speak Romanian, English, French, some Japanese, Italian and Danish. I am very involved in the cultural and spiritual life of the Romanian community, here in Minnesota. Former president of the Parish Council.
