~A little background on how Boomer broke into Show Business is in order here. It all started with Tara and a tragic event. This is their story, in Tara's own words.....

Just before I moved to British Columbia (Canada) I was under the weather & doctors did not know what was really wrong - they said it was a cold here,bug there etc...then we moved to B.C. - within a few weeks of the move I was terribly ill - throwing up, couldn't walk by myself, hardly could see- (all I could make out were shadows),had horrible headaches & nausea to name a few. Finally we got to a good Dr. who sent us to Childrens Hospital....On my 13th Birthday I had surgery to remove a Anaplastic Astroctoma - a brain tumor in my Cerebellum. It wasn't exactly the birthday present I was looking for,(but I guess it's better than nothing) I was allowed a tiny piece of IceCream cake the afternoon before - as I wasn't allowed to eat before the operation. Most of the day I was under sedation so it wasn't the best birthday of my life -- and when I woke up did I have such a headache !!-laughs* After my 8 hour surgery, I had several complications from the tumor & surgery, I had to learn to walk again (as i had little to no balance), it was a challenge. But after a bit of practice I slowly started to pass the slugs on the sidewalk. My arms & mouth were also affected by the surgery, so i had to learn how to eat again,- the especially challenging part for me was liquids as they seemed to leak out of the tiniest hole in your mouth- so I'd practice drinking out of a straw- just for the challenge. I also had to learn how to speak clearly again, and whistle again --and can you believe that not being able to whistle bothered me the most ! I did sit there for the longest time just blowing air out of my lips attempting to get a sound out --but after about 2 years I finally got it !! After the surgery I had to go through Cheemo, and radiation treatment. Through the whole ordeal Boomer was my best friend- So I wanted a wish (from the "Make a Wish" foundation) that He & I could "Share"- he is such a ham - and always seems to attract attention, so I wished for Boomer to STAR in a major motion picture or a Cross Country ad campaign -- nothing like giving a challenge :) "Make a Wish" was so wonderful in granting my wish, Boomer & I are very grateful. Boomer has appeared on a cross Canada ad campaign for "Make A Wish", STARGATE SG-1, X-Files, Police Academy(the series), --and occasionally if Boomer allowed - *I* was also privileged to appear. On the STARGATE set we had such a lovely day, we were allowed to have a tour of the set, including dressing rooms, costume & props, and even the "office area where they design their sets using tiny models & drawings". The day we happened  to visit was my Birthday(Aug. 28)-or the day before I cannot exactly recall-I have memory loss - another side affect from my ordeal. --Well the Stargate people even had a birthday cake made up for me- even with my name on it !! Boomer was of course treated like a king -- We had such an enjoyable day. Boomer does regret one thing though,he didn't have his picture taken in the STARGATE -- now THAT would have been something for him to explain to his doggy friends !!!!

The SG-1 Episode that Boomer made his appearance in, was a major tear jerker for Amanda. BTW- Both Tara and Amanda share the same birthday, and ironically, so does Tiffany seen in pic to the right ! >

Boomer is a Dog-duh...but Not just ANY Dog ! He is of the CKC Breed-Shiba Inu. Here is a little info about his family tree :  Companion & Hunting dog. BRIEF HISTORICAL SUMMARY : The Shiba has been a native breed to Japan since the primitive ages.The word "Shiba" originally refers to something "small".a "small dog".The Shiba's habitat was in the mountainous area facing the Sea of Japan and was used as a hunting dog for small animals and birds.There were slight differences in the breeds according to the areas where they were raised. As dogs like English Setters and English Pointers were imported from England during the period of 1868-1912, hunting became a sport in Japan and cross breeding of the Shiba with those English dogs became prevalent and a pure Shiba became rare so that by 1912-1926 pure Shibas confined to these areas became exceedingly scarce. Hunters and other educated persons became concerned with the preservation of the pure Shibas from around 1928 and the preservation of the limited number of pure strains began seriously, and the breed standard was finally unified in 1934. In 1937 the Shiba was designated as a natural monument after which the breed was bred and improved to become the superior breed know today. A Shiba's temperament is Faithful,with Keenness in sense and high alertness.

BOOMER'S ACTING CREDITS : 1. Stargate SG-1, in the 1st season episode- "Singularity" playing Cassandra's Dog . 2. X-Files, in the 5th(?) season episode- "Demons" co-starring Tara walking him. 3. Police Academy (the series), playing a Dog at  Birthday Party w/Balloons on his head ! 4. As well as being involved in the Nationwide (Canada) campaign for "Make A Wish".
