Episode 101: The Shock of the New
-- Original Airdate: October 6th, 2001 --
Emma deLauro (a new mutant in denial) is trying to run away from her persuers by going through a chic & very crowded night club. She meets Brennan Mulwray, another new mutant as she runs.
Outside, she is defended by Shalimar Fox (a feral), Jesse Kilmartin (a moecular), and the non-mutant Adam. The three take her back to Sanctuary. Adam proceeds to explain to her what she really is.
However, Emma is not ready to accept it and, as Allison (a telekenetic who hid in the Underground) takes her to a plane, she steals a car and runs. She manages to find Brennan in a bar and they talk. Emma removes herself to the bathroom, and when she returns, she finds that a person is talking to Brennan. She suddenly gets a flash of Brennan being strangled. She reflects it to him and the two run from the man. They are ambushed, but Jesse, Shalimar, and Adam show up.
They save Emma - Brennan is captured and brought to the GSA compound.

Episode 102: I Scream the Body Electric
-- Original Airdate: October 13th, 2001 --
Picking up where The Shock of the New left off, Brennan is still in the clutches of Mason Eckhart, the mastermind of the GSA. He tries to escape, but it only results in him being implanted with a subdermal governer.
Meanwhile, the New Mutant Underground is rushing to finish a safe house for Adam. Unfortunately, (with the help of Ruby the librarian's betrayal) the N.M.'s are confronted and most are taken back to the GSA.
In the Double Helix, Emma tries to connect with Brennan at Adam's request. If they aren't able to figure out where the group is, their rescue effort won't work. She finds him, locked in the GSA holding pen. With the information, Adam, Jesse, Shalimar, and Emma enter the compound, freeing the new mutants and erasing years of research from the computers. As the episode comes to a close, Brennan and Emma are presented with their own commrings, after each decides to join the Mutant X team.

Episode 103: Russian Roulette
-- Original Airdate: October 20th, 2001 --
After coming to the aid of the teenage new mutant Tina, Brennan is shot with a weapon known as the Pushka. It throws his new mutant DNA into chaos, dragging him to the agonizing brink of death.
At the same time, Mutant X/New Mutant Underground is in danger of being dicovered by the GSA after Daniel Benedict (the son of a telekenetic) makes a call to Eckhart. Adam uses this as his oppertunity to have Jesse meet Sonya & Yuri, who control the pushka.
Adam takes Daniel to Sanctuary and holds him there until the older man is satisfied that Daniel won't cause further trouble. Jesse, meanwhile, is discovered by the russians as being a new mutant and they implant him with a subdermal governer. Fortunately, the team manages to salvage the situation and get the Pushka. Jesse gives the reversal codes to Adam, before going back to Sonya and Yuri's hideout.
After a few hours, the team with Daniel and Brennan come to the address the young Mutant X member gave them. There, Brennan fries the illegal immigrants computers and the INS arrests the duo.

Episode 104: Fool for Love
-- Original Airdate: October 27th, 2001 --
Adam sends Shalimar to pick up a New Mutant, Donna Morse, who is being hunted by the GSA. However, Donna doesn't believe she's in any danger and chooses to leave with her date. Shal' returns to Sanctuary, unaware that Donna later becomes overwhelmed with pain and scampers off.
The next day, Shal' goes looking for Donna at the latter's apartment. When there is no anwser, she enters and finds that another feral is there. They quarrel, eventually ending up with Shal' finding out about a treatment that Donna had been recieving. The landlord, unfortunately, called the cops at both leave to avoid being arrested.
At Sanctuary, she and Adam create a likeness and cross-reference it to images in the database. The results find that he's a research assistant at Genomex named Richard Saunders. Determined to find out about the aforementioned treatments (and a self-proclaimed fool for love), she enters Genomex undercover. However, a tracer in Richard's computer alerts them to the fact that the GSA knows about the illegal research that he's been conducting in the company's labs.
Escaping Karen Bell, Eckhart's new number two, the two flee to Donna's apartment. Things get a little heated as they acknowledge their feelings. After, He tells Shal' about the serum he developed, telling her that he also was taking it. She doesn't fully understand why he wouldn't want to be a new mutant and he suggests to her that she take it as well - that way they can have a normal life together.
With Richard's permission, Shal' brings a sample of the "magic elixer" to Adam. He asks her to wait while he takes the time to analyze it before she makes any decisions. She tells him she can't deny what she feels in her heart.
Shalimar returns to the apartment, watching as Richard takes his last dose of the serum. She finally gives in and takes it too. By the next morning, however, Richard is violently ill and she takes him to Sanctuary - the serum is killing him. With no choice left, Richard tells Adam how to reverse the dose that Shal' had taken, which brings about his death.

Episode 105: Kilohertz
-- Original Airdate: November 3rd, 2001 --
Shalimar and Jesse are in the Double Helix when the craft begins to make for a crash landing. While Adam and Brennan race to save the two, a self-proclaimed 'freak' going by the name Kilohertz takes over the video feed to every monitor in the country. He asks for all the freaks to rise up against those who oppress them, then he simply disappears, leaving a wake of computer chaos.
At Sanctuary, Jesse and Emma try to figure out who the new mutant behind Kilohertz. Using images taken from his broadcast, they begin matching them with pictures from the New Mutant Database. They get a match - his real name is Barry Sterling and he works at WXDV-TV. They inform Adam, who sends Emma and Brennan to get the rogue. He's adament he won't talk to them and runs. The two members of Mutant X give chase, but in the end, he escapes.
When he re-materializes in front of his apartment building after hitting the Stock Market, Nick Renfield, a new recruit for the GSA, and two GS Agents are there to meet him. Luckily for Barry, Shalimar and Brennan rescue him and bring him back to Sanctuary. He is thrilled to finally be in the Mutant X headquarters, offering to take on the job of "Mutant X's Minister of Propaganda." Adam refuses, trying to get the younger man to understand what he's doing. He won't listen. Barry tries to leave, but the team stops him.
A test of his DNA shows how little self-control Barry has. Adam and the team talk over their options to control him when he wakes up, including the use of subdermal governers. However, as they are talking, Barry wakes up from the sedative he was given, enters Sanctuary's system and nearly kills them all when he turns off the oxygen intake. Adam reconfigures the commlink system, making it impossible for him to return. Feeling betrayed by Mutant X, he goes to the GSA, only to discover that he is not welcome, and is soon placed in stasis. Proxy Blue later reports that Barry Sterling was killed by police, but the team knows it to be a lie and hopes that he won't one day return to haunt them.

Episode 106: Meaning of Death
-- Original Airdate: November 10th, 2001 --
Brennan is taken to a new mutant safehouse by Rick Bellamy, where he meets Todd and Jerri. The introductions are short, when Rick loses the ability to control his powers. Rendering Rick unconscious with a bolt of electricity, Brennan calls Adam.
Adam places Rick in isolation and runs a battery of tests. The results are not good. An airbourne spore, Cladosporium, has infected Rick - and it's possible that it also infected Brennan, Todd, and Jerri, who are put under quarantine.
Alice Robbins, an N.M. who throws off thermal energy, comes down with the virus. Adam and Shal' immediately go to her, with the latter in a haz-mat suit. They are met there by Eckhart and his new Lieutenant - Charles Marlowe. Adam then proposes a temperary truce, so he can work on a cure and not have to fight the GSA at the same time. Eckhart agrees.
Set up at the GSA, Adam immediately starts not only the research, but an ongoing disagreement with Charles. They eventually get down to a physical fight, which ends with Adam figuring out that Charles isn't invinsible - he's got uncontrolled cellular regeneration that is off the charts.
While that goes on, Emma and Jesse become ill when they are exposed to Rick before he dies. Shalimar goes to get them and brings them to triage, where Adam asks Charles to help him. The three go to Sanctuary, creating a "blanket innoculation", and turning Charles back into a mortal.
Once again, Charles helps them to break into the GSA's computers to get access to the company satellites. Eckhart appears and after a few minutes, orders Marlowe to be shot. Shalimar fights, has the white-haired man remove his men, and finishes the upload from Adam's handheld. The innoculation is delivered and all who were ill are healed immediately.
