Hatching 9
Wind Umynri let her knight Rhean close the doors to the deep cavern and guard them. She had said with her life, but it was unlikely that anyone would try to enter. Even if anyone did break into the castle, the deep cavern lay several stories underground, lighted by a system of small tunnels with mirrors. Umynri felt safe to know that no-one would disturb them.
"Now hatch." she told her eggs with an excited tone.

On the other side of the door Rhean, Quent and his drak Ooïlakios were waiting for the door to open again. The aspirants had gathered in the nearby mind-pairing chamber and the small fountain of water was frequented more than the heat alone would explain. The young mercenary from Wilgen Castle, Arthur, seemed to have set up perch there even if he could hardly keep his cup from shaking. Serech, the mountain climber who'd been picked up near Mi'ihen looked more at ease. She was standing near the back wall, thinking she could probably climb the uneven surface. Ressonor who'd come from one of the islands near Chindor Castle stood near the entrance, straining his neck already to make sure he'd see the draklings when they entered. Stinga and Ahynna were conversing near the tables with food. Stinga eagerly taking the offered diversion. She still twisted her hands though while they talked about their villages which weren't far apart. Lyra stood just a bit further, trying to keep her black vulpa from running off with the table linen (and everything on it).
Finally the door swung open and Umynri barged in, taken the lead by going to sit in the center of the room and arranging her 5 draklings around her in a neat circle. There were a fire, a mud, 2 deserts and a female earth.
The fire drakling was the first to make a move. He headed for the water fountain and sat down next to Arthur. The mercenary boy didn't know quite how to act.
"Don't worry." the fire whispered, "I'll help you. My name is Delrios."
"Delrios..." Arthur repeated.
"And now we've paired." the fire smiled.
Next the mud headed out. He slowly let his eyes move over the remaining aspirants. He finally had made his choice. He walked toward the aspirants and stopped in front of Serech. The black-haired, fit woman fit his taste and he let her know by quietly nuzzling her outstretched hand.
"Avarios." he spoke.
One of the deserts moved forward after that. The two of them looked exactly the same and Lyra remembered there had only been 5 eggs. Were there twins born from draks? She really didn't know. She was so busy trying to figure out the question while still keeping an eye on Siri. So busy that she didn't notice the desert heading her way.
"Lyra!"
It wasn't until that call that she looked up, right into his light brown skin and gazing eyes.
"Thanks for the attention. Finally. My name is Curios."
The last two draklings, the male desert and the female earth left their mother simultaneous. They both sat in front of the two remaining aspirants who'd moved closer together. Ressonor had quickly realised that standing at the door wouldn't let the draklings get much of a view of him, even if he could see them. So he had relocated to the food tables. The couples who'd already paired were eating there and he too felt to become quite hungry. Ahynna on the other hand, simply waited. She'd been invited to one of the castles long ago but had only now decided to actually stand for a clutch. To her it was simply something she couldn't ignore anymore.
"Ress!" the desert calld, "My name is Plurios."
"I'm Guposri, Ahynna." the earth female added.
"Want food?" Ressonor asked.
In stead of answering the last two draklings attacked the table and tried to gain on their brothers and sister who'd started earlier.
