| “Phoenix Pyros of the Pyros clan, defender of the good and true.” Phoenix said proudly. “I am Edvar the brave and I am afraid that your friend is neither good nor true but has showed cowardice on the battle-field. But if you wish to see him...” Edvar lowered his voice and turned to Danibee, “I think that this is a convenient time to make an example of him.” He flashed a thin smile. “Go bind Rithevan and bring him to the wall. “If you do not give him up!...” Phoenix bellowed, “...I will take him by force!” He drew his sword which gleamed in the fading sun and raised it in the air with his shield in the other. “I do not think that you could. For there are many of of us and you have no walls to protect you.” “Are you too cowardly to face me yourself outside those walls?” Phoenix replied. Logan snorted, he was anxious to move and whirled around in a semi-circle. Edvar choked on Phoenixes words and sneared while considering his actions. “I accept your challenge upstart!” Phoenix smiled and his eyes began to glow dimly red. He watched Edvar step down the rampart and called for the doors to be opened. He waited only a moment before bolting towards the gate. He kicked Logan firmly as he faced his head down and charged full speed. And as he did, fire erupted in front and around Phoenix like a shield and flared as he rode. He heard the archer on the wall cry out for the others to wait but he was too late and Logan rammed the doors just as it began to open. The fire bursted and swung the doors into both the door man and Edvar, knocking them to the ground. The fire alighting them and the gates aflame. Phoenix headed for the rear of the fort to access the inner keep and made his way to the door on the side but another bandit wearing a hood leapt in front of him, drawing his short-sword and swinging out at Logan's head. He reared and nearly fell over backward. Phoenix slid from his saddle and allowed himself to land on the dirt, crouched down. |
