Klavistor |

![]() Position: Leader of the Mygar Originally of noble birth, Klavistor was born to the Peter, Duke of Elling. His birth name, plainly, was Henry-- or "young Henry of Elling" as people once called him. He was everything a child of a nobleman should be, except perhaps a little too violent. Henry was continually fascinated with jousting and swordplay. While this was true of every boy, Henry was more passionate about it than most. And he was good at it. A little too good. He was able to best other young men 3 years his senior, and consistently so. However, his noble life did not last. A rival and powerful lord, Lord Priath, had a long-lasting dispute with Elling, and was finally determined to do something about it. Priath was quite a powerful lord in his own right, but lacked the force necessary to totally overthrow Elling. So for several years, Priath built up strength in capital and favors, until he was able to support an army that was eight times as powerful as Elling's... mostly consisting of mercenaries and other lords' men. His assault was swift and strong. Elling fell, as did its Duke. Henry, being the Duke's only heir, recieved the position only several hours before Elling's inevitable surrender. At the news, and in desparate humor, he ordered every last man to fight Priath's army. Dispite Henry's skill at fighting, his political skill left something to be desired. He did not surrender. Instead he marched his 10 dozen or so men (all that would follow) to meet Priath, only to be met in turn with an army several thousand strong. Henry's men fled at the sight, but Henry did not. He attempted to wrestle his way headlong into the oncoming army, and head straight for Priath himself. He reached Priath fairly quickly, suprisingly... but not surprisingly, it was somewhat different than Henry envisioned. Instead of hurling himself, weapon in hand, slashing this way and that, toward Priath himself, he arrived bound and bereft of all weaponry, and sorely beaten. Priath, upon seeing the youth, and being told of his person, decided to let Henry live, figuring it would pain him much more than dying with his father. Priath was right. Henry did not return to Elling. He would have no army, and no power. His chance at revenge was left next to impossible-- and Henry was too impatient to accept that fate. He would not bide his time in politics for his vengence.... Instead, suprisingly enough, began to start his own band of mercinaries, later known as the Mygar. He started by bringing together thieves and other youths, eager for adventure... With his own tale in hand, he was able to quickly convince others to theivery and vice in Priath's lands, where his version of justice almost seemed fair. His growing band only targetted Priath's lands, all in the 'honerable' name of vengance. In addition, to hide his past, he gave himself a new name: Klavistor. As time went on, his band grew. They were no longer a small group of a dozen men... they were now well into being a small legion of their own. They no longer simply thieved, either. They began to pillage and slaughter. But there was only so much in Priath's lands to wreak havoc on-- and Priath's army kept them constantly on the move. It was not long before they began to attack everywhere, becoming feared across the land as a ruthless band of rogue soldiers-- the Mygar. The Mygar now number in the hundreds, and have been known to hold their own against standing armies. And with such power, have even lent themselves out as mercenaries-- bringing to the battlefield not only their strength, but their reputation... something perhaps more valuable than sheer manpower. Klavistor still leads his men with his own tale of vengence, but each time the tale is told, he seeks justice less and less... his vengence has become a partof him and his men, and he no longer seeks Priath's head; for he secretly fears that should his wrath be realized, his passion would fade and he would become a regular man-- with no more purpose than dust. |
