Mazar Rackshaw |

![]() Position: Mage Mazar Rackshaw was born in a small town of no more than 200 people. He was prematurely born, and thus frail. Although throughout his childhood, he was very intelligent. He excelled in subjects like astronomy, reading and math. When he was 12, a band of knights clad in black armor raided his village. While they were coming, he was tending to the horses to with his father. One of these abominations rode up intending on decapitating his father. He lunged at the horse's rider but fell short, and just before he went unconscious he saw his father get killed. When he woke up 2 days later, he found nothing but death and destruction in the village. He knew the only reason he was alive was because he was taken for dead. He fled, unable to bear the pain of all the corpses of his loved ones. 1 day later while he was still in a hysterical state, he saw a man in flowing blue robes coming his way. When the man came closer he saw a haggard, half-starved Mazar. The man was filled with sorrow when he saw this, and truly hoped he could do something.
He said to Mazar, "Why are you out here, in the middle of nowhere?" Mazar surprised himself by explaining his whole story. When the man heard about the black knights, he knew immediately what happened without having to listen to the whole story. This revelation deeply frightened and angered him. The shadow warriors, as they called themselves, had come out of hiding. When
Mazar was done explaining his story he asked the man, "What is your name?" The man replied, "Galen Verneer" (not to be confused with THE Verneer, but maybe related) Then Galen said, "I know there is only one way to achieve revenge." This was how it all started. Mazar worked hard and to Galen's surprise was exceedingly fast in learning. For 8 years Mazar studied and practiced with Galen, his skills in magic growing every day. During this period, the pair, master and apprentice encountered the shadow warriors many times. Each time becoming more and more successful. (Not to say that didn't have any close calls.) When Mazar was 20, Galen knew it was time to split paths. He felt that he had taught Mazar all he could. When Galen told this to Mazar, he was reluctant but finally agreed. So Mazar set out with a vow to completely eliminate all of the shadow warriors. He did this, but it took him 10 long years of relentless pursuit. He was finally at peace. The only thing he now didn't like about himself (more an annoyance than anything else didn't.) was his white hair. This was because of his extensive use of his magical abilities. He thought it humorous that that was the only thing that had truly changed about him in the past 10 years. He settled down thinking his problems had passed. He decided to study about magic, and the different kinds of wizards. He studied for quite a long time until the unthinkable happened: demons. Jacal and his men. He knew he couldn't face them by himself so he did the only thing he could: start a school of wizardry….. |
