Wraith saved his life from an attacking dragon long ago, and ever since then they've been friends. When Wraith was putting together a group to fight the demons, he sent word to Rei and asked him if he'd join the fight. Rei of course agreed, and now fights bravely by Wraith's side in any battle, no matter what the odds.
