Lady Amarra |
-- by Leah Cardaci |
![]() Amarra is the daughter of the longtime palace steward, George, who was rewarded with a minor lordship for his years of faithful service. As such a lesser noble, Amarra would usually be ignored by the more powerful families, but Amarra has quickly become a leading figure at court. Her beauty, grace, wit, and the good education her father insisted on makes Amarra a very entertaining companion. She is a favorite of the younger nobles, and is involved in every major social event at court. Even the older nobles are susceptible to Amarra's charm, and have begun to accept her. What the nobles do not realize is how planned Amarra's advancement was, and the reason she desires to be included. Amarra is actually working as an agent for King Mac, and uses her position to learn the nobles' opinions on certain matters. Amarra has a much better chance of learning what the nobles truly think than anyone openly working for the king does. Mac regrets the need for such trickery, as he has always preferred open and honest methods. However, Mac understands that this is the only way he can know the nobles' true feelings about the neighboring kingdom of Octavium and the crown prince of Octavium, Mac's son in law. Such knowledge is important to Mac and Rhonauld's work to keep good relations between Auren and Octavium. With an Aurener father and Octavian mother, Amarra is as dedicated to maintaining peace as Mac.
