Deep in an ancient forest stands a massive Black Oak. It began its life on a rocky outcropping, forced to burrow its roots into solid stone to find the water and soil it needed to survive. But survive it did, and it grew to a great height. When the Storm God saw how tall it had grown, he became jealous, because the tree was reaching up into his domain, so he struck it with lightning until the tree toppled. But even that could not stop the tree from growing, and that is how the Red Fox found it, determinedly pushing forth new branches from the stump. |

Using his magics, the wizard created a home for himself in the heartwood of the massive oak. And because of his magics, the oak continued to live, and grow. |

The front room of the tree holds a staff-rack which holds the Fox's wizard's staff and his magic wand (again present solely to impress visitors) as well as his hat and cloak when he's not outdoors. |

Here is the main room of the tree. The ladder leads up to the Red Fox's bedchamber. (Well, it's more of a loft, really...) The skull on the mantelpiece (named Marcellus) is a fake, merely to impress visitors. |
