Those who are Hunted

Disclaimer: Castlevania belongs to Konami not me. I am making £0.00 out of this fic, it is written purely because I have a burning need to create. Although I would like to own Alucard . . . then he’d be mine.

Warning: this fic contains YAOI (GuyXGuy), blood play and a lemon, if this offends or upsets you do not read this, it’s that simple.

Rating: R-NC17

Pairing: Richter/Alucard

Authoress note: I have changed aspects. I am aware Alucard’s eyes are a soft grey-ish colour, I was however inspired to change this.

Chapter three

“What else did you say we needed” Richter almost whined to his wife

“You want to go home already” Maria teased “and you men are supposed to be strong”

“we are strong, just in short bursts, I can’t shop all day like you women” Richter huffed “and I’m carrying everything”

“We only need to get milk now I promise we’ll return home soon love” Annett said trying to hide her smile at Maria and Richter’s banter

“You said that half an hour ago” Richter did whine this time

“Oh for heavens sake Richter, this is only a village market you should see us when we go into town” Maria smiled wider

“Prey tell where you get the money for this ‘town’ shopping” Richter was becoming worried

“Oh my love we don’t buy a lot we just go for a nice day out” Annett tried to sooth her husband

“Nice day out my foot” Richter mumbled then stopped, the small crowd had gone deadly silent, all eyes towards the edge of the village. Birds flew up in a wave of blackness, fleeing.

“Vampires” Annett squeaked

“It’s the afternoon” Maria half snapped at her sister’s stupidity

“Then what. . .”  Annett was interrupted however when an ogre burst forth from the forest

“OGRE” the warning went out and people ran. The doors of the village hall were opened and people fought desperately to get inside.

The ogre made a bounding run towards the crowd but cried out as a small throwing knife struck it just below the throat, followed by another. The ogre’s attention now adverted the people scrambled into the hall. Richter turned to see the blonde immortal circling the ogre testily.

The village hall was full to bursting. The crowd collectively winced as a crash was heard, many eyes fell on Richter, who nodded.

“Is there a weapon among us” he shouted

“Oh Richter you can’t” Annett cried “your still hurt”

“I can’t let him do it on his own” Richter snapped as a sword was trust into his hand. Richter blinked unfamiliar with the weapon.

The hall shook suddenly as the ogre slammed into it, Richter hugged Annett briefly before darting out the door fast enough to sink his sword into the Ogre’s right leg almost crippling it. He glanced about for the immortal who he found sitting behind a half collapsed wall hugging his side.

“Are you alright” he asked as he slipped in beside the dunpeal

“Alright enough” was the almost breathless reply “it’s determined though, I’ve been tracking it all day” a gloved hand came up to wipe away blood that had come up from the blonde’s mouth.

“You are hurt” Richter said flatly

“it caught me on my side, rib punctured my lung, it’s healing though” the blonde confirmed

An angry bellow went up as the ogre couldn’t find its tiny prey; Richter sighed and thanked the lord for making ogre’s as dumb as stone.

“Stay here” Richter commanded and stood before running leading the ogre’s attention away from the wall where the immortal remained. The ogre followed waving half a tree it was effectively using as a club.

Richter fell as the wound on his thigh started to tear open again. He yelped as he went down, the ogre’s eyes fixed on him and it ambled closer sure of its victory. Pausing over Richter and rising its club, it was thrown off balance as a large white wolf collided roughly with its injured leg.

The wolf disappeared in a gauzy mist and Alucard leapt from it, landing on the fallen ogre’s side, he lifted his sword to stab into its neck but was knocked off as the ogre stood up faster than expected. A huge hand grabbed the dunpeal’s cloak dragging him upwards.

The blonde was throne upwards by a hand the size of a wheelbarrow and with accuracy that ogres are not famous for, this ogre lifted its club like a bat and stuck the Dunpeal, sending him flying into the chimney of the village hall. Richter watched helplessly as the chimney collapsed with the force of the dunpeal hitting it, then as the blonde immortal rolled down the slanted roof and fell to the ground, landing with a sickening crunch.

The ogre moved forward but once again was denied its prey when a spear shot forwards embedding itself in the ogre’s left leg causing the beast to fall. Richter turned to see the few men that qualified as werewolf hunters behind him wielding weapons.

Richter ran over to the collapsed blonde as the few other half decent hunters in the village went in for the kill. Instantly Richter reached to check for a pulse and stopped himself, would Alucard even have a pulse to start with? Richter looked him up and down he couldn’t help but notice how lithe the dunpeal’s form was again, how catlike and graceful but also how delicate, what had that club done to him.

Richter slid his arms under the dunpeal and lifted; he gasped unable to believe how light the immortal was sinewy and packed tight, yet not heavy at all. He shifted his grip making the blonde whimper; his hand went to support the dunpeal’s head and came away slick with blood. The dunpeal coughed, choking, Richter tilted his head slightly and winced as blood poured from the blonde’s mouth.

Richter could feel parts of the immortal’s spine moving beneath his skin, healing the blow that had shattered his body completely. As he looked down he shivered, noting the pools of blood on the ground, and sighed in relief that Alucard’s body was at least attempting to heal itself.

Without a second thought he span on his heals clutching the blonde to him and made towards his home. People stared as Richter carried the pale immortal back towards his house but Richter didn’t care, public opinion be damned. He flinched suddenly as he felt the blonde curled broken but healing fingers into his coat. The action caused Richter to jump slightly and nearly trip on Alucard’s cape.

“Stupid bloody” Richter cursed “why do you have such a long damn cape anyway”

He used his back to open the front door and made his way inside his home. He stopped in the main room and turned to put the immortal down. But god be damned he couldn’t get the pale hand to let go of him. So with a reluctant sigh he turned again and collapsed into and arm chair laying the blond across him, long legs hanging off one arm rest.

Richter lent his head back and took a deep breath, before testing his body, clenching muscles to try and find anything that had been damaged, amazingly nothing had save for the wound on his thigh for which he was thankful. His eyes fell again to the blonde immortal in his lap, that club blow should have killed him, yet Richter knew he would recover, to prove his point the blonde flexed and started coming around.

He looked the immortal over once again feeling helpless, he knew the immortal was healing but still he wanted to do something that would help, or at least make the immortal more comfortable. His hands fell on Alucard’s gloves, practically shredded leather that now offered no protection so Richter tugged them away. Pail hands were exposed, long delicate fingers, suited to the piano or the violin but what surprised Richter were his nails. The were in no-way human, like he had expected, they appeared more like small delicate, ever so slightly hooked claws, they were black and shone in the light. Strangely this fascinated Richter.

“Richter” Annett’s voice made him jump and turn his gaze away from the immortal in his arms

“Annett my dear are you alright” Richter asked cursing himself for forgetting his wife and cursing Alucard for making him forget his wife.

“I am fine Richter . . . but why . . . . Why did you bring a monster in here?” Annett snapped eventually

Richter froze, monster! Annett called Alucard a monster after what he had done for Richter and the village and yet he was still a monster. Richter had half expected that reaction from the villagers but not from Annett she was meant to understand.

“Annett my sweet, this is Alucard, the man I spoke of to you, not a monster” Richter corrected

“He is a vampire and the son of Dracula Richter how can you be so foolish to . . .” she trailed off before taking a few deep breaths.

Maria burst into the house looking frightened, her gaze fell on Alucard half curled in Richter’s lap and her hand flew to her mouth, tears started to fall.

“Richter” she gasped

“He’s healing, I can . . .” he swallowed “I can feel his bone’s moving, fixing back together, he’ll be alright”

“Its not that” Maria was almost sobbing now “the village, their all outside, they want him, they’ve got fire, they want to burn him Richter!”

Richter was furious “they run from ogres but one half dead dunpeal and they all become vampire hunters” he snapped

“Richter give him to them!!” Annett shouted

“Annett!” Richter snapped shocked

“My love please you’re just tired, you’re confused it’s alright, we’ll just hand him over and pretend it didn’t happen”

“How could you” Richter snapped

“He’s that monster’s son!!” Annett yelled “he’s a VAMPIRE Richter, he is what you hunt have you forgotten that!!”

“I haven’t forgotten!!” Richter bellowed and opened his mouth to say more when Alucard suddenly jerked up right, Bright red eyes scanned the room, his gaze fell on the sobbing Maria, his eyes seemed to glow slightly, and expression of longing crossed the dunpeal’s features, his lips parted slightly. Richter felt a pang at that look, why didn’t the blonde look at him like that? Then he scolded himself ‘now is not the time to be thinking with your pants Richter’

“Alucard” Richter spoke

The blonde turned and looked at the vampire hunter, his eyes cleared slightly and he stood, backing away, not saying anything.

“You have to run” Maria whispered still weeping one hand pointed to the window “the village . . .” she stood and moved towards the dunpeal but Annett grabbed her.

“Get out” Annett growled harshly

Alucard glanced at Richter and nodded before completely dissolving his form into mist and seeping out of a half open window.

“Where is the vampire” a man Richter recognized as the local butcher snapped the second Richter left his front door.

“Dead” Richter shouted

“Why did you carry him away” The butcher man asked quieter this time but still with a lot of distrust

“I lacked the apt tools to destroy such a monster” Richter said back

“You have not answered my question Belmont” Butcher snapped

“if it had come to in the square with only werewolf hunters at hand it could have easily slaughtered half the village before I had time to run and fetch an appropriate weapon”  Richter explained “if it was with me at least lives would have been spared” the Butcher looked distrustfully at Richter but relented

“Very well Belmont you have made your point” he smirked “now if you will allow us to view the corpse we will be on our way”

“don’t be a fool” Maria shouted emerging from the house “there is no corpse, vampires dry out the instant they die and turn to dust right before your eyes, see here”  she opened her hands letting handfuls of dust fall from her fingers to be carried away on the wind.

“Are you happy now good sir” Richter asked

The butcher said nothing but slowly the mob began to move away muttering amongst itself.

“Thank you Maria” Richter nodded to his sister in law as he turned back to the house “but where . . .” he gestured towards the dust now littering the ground

“Just fire dust from your hearth, I hope you don’t mind” Maria whispered

“Not at all, I’m sure Alucard will be grateful when he returns” Richter tried to smile

“He was hurt badly Richter and now he’s alone in that forest, the ogres are out in force this time of year” she stopped as fresh tears fell from her eyes

“He knows how to take care of himself Maria, there is nothing you can do” Richter put an arm around Maria’s shoulder’s

The two walked together the short distance to the house, expecting maybe Annett to be making tea, or some other trivial thing she did when nervous but that was not what they found.

“BETRAYER” she screamed

“Annett” Richter whispered “my sweet”

“Don’t you ‘my sweet’ me Richter Belmont!! How could you, how could you help a monster” Annett raged “a vampire hunter befriending a vampire” she spat in a most un-lady like fashion “its sick!!”

“Annett” Maria whispered

“Maria please you don’t know what it’s been like since you returned from that horrible place, he hardly says two words always lost in some dream, he leaves the bed in the middle of the night almost every night” Annett started weeping now “he hasn’t even touched me since he returned, every time I try and hold him he pulls away looking miserable” she glared one last time at her husband before running to their room and slamming the door.

Richter and Maria stood in silence for a few minuets before Maria spoke

“I’ll go and see if I can talk to her”

“Richter” Maria spoke quietly

“How is she” Richter asked Maria shook her head

“I’ve never seen her like this . . . but I have managed to calm her down and talk some sense into her, although it’s still not good”

“She’s leaving isn’t she” Richter already knew

“She’s promised not to say a word of this to anyone for many reasons, the world needs the Belmont’s” Maria looked up “and it would shame her to if they knew”

Annett appeared in the door way her eyes ringed red from sobbing

“I want you out” she whispered “I want you gone until I am gone then I don’t care any more”

“Very well” Richter nodded
