Life

Disclaimer: Castlevania belongs to Konami not me. I am making £0.00 out of this fic, it is written purely because I have a burning need to create. Although I would like to own Alucard . . . then he’d be mine.

Warning: this fic contains really Light YAOI (GuyXGuy), blood play and vampires (is this a necessary warning for a Castlevania fic?). However although the first few chapters are very easy going the later chapters include, Heavy Yaoi, Violence and discussing of sensitive subjects.

Rating: NC-17

Authoress note: I have changed aspects. I am aware Alucard’s eyes are a soft grey-ish colour, I was however inspired to change this as I have been before in my other fics.

This chapter contains some of the stupidly Light Yaoi and blood play.

Chapter Four

Crysta and Samuel sat on the beach by the lake watching as Simon, Louis, Artemis and Adrian tried miserably to stop there ball flying into the lake Artemis was already soaked after swimming out to retrieve it.

Watching the game made Crysta smile, she could not pin point the rules but it was something about using your hands to keep a ball from touching the ground while at the same time tying to get other people to drop it.

Several of the boys were very good, she was surprised that humans could move that fast, but the one she was watching was clearly inhuman.

Adrian” she whispered under her breath and his head jerked up, causing him to drop the ball. He shrugged and stepped away from the makeshift court, nodding to her then making his way over when she smiled back.

Samuel stood brushing sand from his clothing and muttering something about his hatred for his human clothing. He had been forced to wear clothing to warm for this weather to hide his wolfish attributes. Crysta was lucky in that she could conceal her inhuman qualities easily, or at least easier than Samuel.

“Hello” Adrian bowed his head slightly to her she nodded; Samuel frowned slightly at Adrian thinking ‘this human does have some resemblance to our lord but . . . Adrian was killed.

“You seem interested” Adrian gestured to the game, “you can join the next game if you wish”

“Don’t know how” Samuel muttered unwilling to talk to this human who bore a frightening resemblance to his past friend

Adrian’s eyes opened wider the man held an accent exactly the same as his own.

“That would be nice however” the woman spoke now displaying the same accent “we would wish to talk with you first, would you come eat with us”

Adrian nodded far too amazed to hear people like him; he waved to those playing and accompanied the two newcomers away.

* * * *

They sat in a shady area for which Adrian was grateful, an hour in the sun and already he had a headache. The area they sat in was very secluded, Adrian frowned slightly the woman who Adrian learned was called Crysta seemed very intent on finding somewhere private.

“So” Crysta began “your not from here sir”

“It’s that obvious” Adrian raised his eyebrows

“You are nineteen now?” Adrian nodded “where did you grow up? Do you remember anything about when you were young?”

Why was this woman asking questions, Adrian frowned and opened his mouth to answer but was stopped

“You must think us terribly rude but we are looking for some one and they match your description perfectly” Crysta smiled widely displaying perfect teeth,

“It’s impossible my lady for I have been here as long as I remember” Adrian shrugged, unhappy to be disappointing to these people. Samuel leaned forwards peering at Adrian’s face, a gloved hand brushed just below Adrian’s eye, Adrian leaned back, slightly anxious by the closeness.

Adrian?” Samuel muttered as if he couldn’t believe it

Adrian pulled back quiet unsettled by the newcomers actions, but he became even more upset when the new comer removed his hat revealing wolfish ears, his gloves were removed to reveal three very short fingers tipped with claws and after a few uncomfortable moments and struggling a tail was also revealed.

Adrian was speechless, the woman to was fiddling with her dress, twisting and lifting it to reveal underneath a much more devilish and gothic dress that barley covered her, but not only did it reveal more of her body than was modest, it also showed small black and red wings and a thin red tail, her flowered hat was removed to reveal small red horns almost covered by her hair.

Adrian knew he should be terrified, he should run screaming but he found himself almost hypnotised he felt comfortable with these two hellish creatures even more so than his human friends whom he had known many years. He found himself removing his own gloves revealing long elegant but fiercely clawed hands, he rubbed his eyes and blinked a few times clearing them of the drops that had been placed in there this morning, revealing bright purple eyes that seemed to change colour as he moved, he moved his long hair behind his ears showing elegant points and then he smiled displaying thin, long, inhuman dentistry.

The woman was grinning speechless, but the male creature threw himself at Adrian,

“It’s you! It’s really you! I thought you’d died! Oh dark gods Adrian, your Alive!!!” the grip the wolf-ish man held on him was bone crushing yet Adrian pushed the wolfish creature back gently before pulling his legs to his chest curling up, confused by what the Wolf-ish man had said, he coughed before speaking

“It’s an illness, they don’t know what but it is an illness nothing more” he tried to explain

“What!” Crysta laughed “Can’t you see you are like us, you belong with us, and we came to take you back with us”

“Is there a hospital” Adrian asked his voice hopeful to the prospect of a cure for his condition

“Hospital!” Crysta laughed louder “I don’t think there’s a cure for Dunpeals” she placed a delicate finger to her lips and giggled outright at Adrian’s shocked expression “oh come now Adrian

Adrian shook his head fiercely sending alabaster locks flying in all directions

“What did you think it was” Samuel asked starching his right ear as if all this was perfectly normal “what other creature did you know that dines on blood other than the vampire”

“Cave trolls” Crysta snapped still grinning

“They don’t count” Samuel nipped

Adrian’s head span, surly these two had a condition mirror to his own but there’s had obviously effected there minds, without another thought Adrian had put his gloves on, shook his hair lose and bolted back to human civilization.

“That went well” Crysta muttered trying to fit back into her dress

“It was truly Adrian” Samuel smiled placing his hat back before helping Crysta

“I feel like a walking tent’ Crysta whined

* * * *

Night found Adrian lying perfectly still in an uncomfortable tent. The tension that had been rippling through him was beginning to ease now with the coming darkness. He always felt better at night. During the day it was like a large hot weight was resting on his shoulders but t night with the cool air it eased. He loved being outside in the darkness, he enjoyed being inside during the day but at night the buildings always made him feel claustrophobic.

He sighed to himself trying to calm his thoughts but they were spinning in his mind, vampire? Could he really be a daemon, the thought both repulsed him and tantalised him at the same time, it felt right, it seemed to fit. He felt like a jigsaw with one piece missing and that was the piece. He longed for the freedom to be himself yet he did not want to have to be a daemon to be free.

Vampire. Surly if he was a vampire he would ignite in the daylight, Sunday services would be impossible. But they had called him Dunpeal first before vampire, he shook his head, no those two were crazy, insane . . . then why did they make so much sense to him. What was a Dunpeal anyway?

Right now he had a bigger problem, maybe it was because it had been so long since he had last wandered in an ally or maybe it was because of all that had happened but what ever the cause he was hungry, his stomach growled impatiently for something solid food could not provide. He groaned hating himself.

He winced remembering watching Artemis drain the rabbits from yesterday, how much he had wanted to take them from him, warm, fresh unpolluted blood rather than the dry half clotted, semi-cold, polluted stuff he was so used to. He remembered the smell, maybe it was his imagination but he had been able to smell it ever since and now it was driving him crazy. He continually clenched and unclenched his hands hoping to work out some of the tension, a different tension that that of before.

He wished he could sleep, but trying to sleep like this was hopeless, he stood and left the tent making his way towards the lake, he climbed up a small hill that overlooked the whole campsite, being outside made him feel a bit better. But the craving was still there crackling inside of him.

Vampire. The thought rung in his mind, like a bell. But there was nothing here to take . . . except . . . No they were his friends! How could he think that!! Guilt pounded into his mind for even entertaining such a thought, how could he! . . . . But they were only human . . . . Only human since when was he anything but only human. Oh god he really was going insane.

Vampire. The smell he could remember it! It had sat on the air so thickly he could almost taste it. Vampire. He tried to swallow but his mouth and throat were dry, dusty, the craving had never come this strongly before, it was almost painful and to know that he could stop it was worse.

Vampire. Adrian stood and began to pace, trying to work up some saliva so he could swallow, the thought, the temptation it was physically consuming him. Vampire. He could go down there now, they were asleep, and they would never know what happened. NO! What was wrong with him! He had never thought like this before. Vampire. Adrian sank to his haunches and buried his clawed hands in his hair, clawing at it, tearing at himself. It hurt so much! His veins felt aflame. He couldn’t breath! Vampire!

“Saw you up here all on your lonesome . . . I . . . uh thought you might like some company . . . . My company to be precise” Artemis flopped down beside him on the damp grass

Adrian cursed and glared at Artemis out of the corner of his eye before he took a deep breath and turned to Artemis nodding

“So what’s bothering you” Artemis asked

“What makes you think something’s wrong” Adrian’s voice was tense but the pounding in his head was beginning to lessen. A distraction was just what he needed now. But the pain remained, his stomach hurt like he had never eaten anything in days, it sent spikes of pain up his back.

“Adrian you look as though the grim reaper jumped out from behind a bush and told you, you’ve got ten minuets to live, after steeling all your birthday presents” Artemis’s smile widened but faded instantly to a more sombre expression. Adrian didn’t answer and the two just sat.

After a while Adrian became uncomfortable, Artemis had been watching him for a while now making the silence awkward, thankfully Artemis broke it.

“Do you ever get lonely” he asked

“Sometimes” Adrian answered, noting how Artemis suddenly seemed closer to him

“I am” Artemis sighed and opened his mouth a few times to speak but words failed him until “I really like spending time with you”

Adrian was a little taken back, he had always thought of himself as to quiet, a sombre individual, lost in his thoughts. He winced in pain momentarily and did not notice Artemis pulling close. He was snapped out of his thoughts by a warm, wet mouth descending on his, pure and utter shock stopped him reacting a moment, then he was lost.

Artemis was pressed against him and Adrian could smell him, the scent of his life running molten liquid through his veins, Adrian tensed, this had to stop if it didn’t he would . . . his thoughts were stopped as Artemis slid his tongue into Adrian’s mouth, tasting.

Adrian moaned he couldn’t help it, a raw and willing sacrifice to do with what he wished, truly a gift from what ever daemons were pleased by his condition. Adrian felt something rumble low in his throat and Artemis pulled away

"You're purring!"

Adrian shivered and smiled delightedly. "I liked that."

The relief on Artemis’s face was astounding, and he almost threw himself onto Adrian mumbling “I was so scared you’d hate me”

Adrian smiled and tilted Artemis’s head up to his “I don’t hate you” he said quietly before closing his mouth over Artemis’s, dipping inside to taste that rawness, the life that some how he seemed to lack. Life called to him. The pain was receding.

Everything was suddenly fading, the words Artemis was mumbling as Adrian drew back slightly before running his mouth gently downwards. He nudged Artemis faintly, urging him to tip his head up Artemis complied easily another quiet moan coming forth. Arms wrapped around him seeming to urge him on, but again this was faint background all Adrian could clearly hear now was the quickening of Artemis’s heart.

The pulse in his neck sped along with his heart; Adrian’s rushed to catch up with it making him breathe harder, his breath on Artemis’ skin made Artemis shiver and goosebumps rise. Running on instinct alone Adrian closed his mouth over the spot he thought would be best and let the tip of his tongue search for the perfect spot. He found it the blissful artery which ran just under the surface, holding what he wanted. What he needed.

He pushed against Artemis forcing him down on the damp grass, almost pinning him, then he let his fangs trace the vein drawing a thin line of crimson. Running his hands down Artemis’ torso.

“A. . . Adrian” Artemis’s voice was low, breathless, but a faint tone of fear was making itself known. “What are you . . . doing?”

The slight hint of fear made Adrian’s heart race even faster than Artemis’, it was absolute bliss. He delighted himself in the light torment he was putting on his prey, then almost gently he dipped his fangs into the flesh as easily as a hot wire into butter. There was no resistance.

The moan Artemis let out would make people wonder who was feeding from whom. Adrian soon joined him his voice deeper sending vibrations through Artemis’s body. The raw, yolky taste of blood bubbled into Adrian’s mouth and slid down his throat, instantly Adrian felt it warm him, energise him, he felt Artemis arch against him, felt Artemis’ hands claw at his hair, passion born of Pain.

“Adr . . . Adrian . . . so good”

Adrian opened his eyes his vision blossoming red, his eyes became half lidded as he sucked lazily. The sensation jolted through him making him tremble, his entire body trembled and bathed in the pleasure being dealt him, nothing had ever felt this good, this right.

He felt Artemis jolt, trusting up against him, he was whispering something but Adrian was deafened by the blood pounding in his ears and the sensations of having his prey bucking beneath him. Suddenly Artemis’s hands moved grasping tightly to Adrian’s back, locking the two together, he groaned louder, Adrian felt his entire body stiffen and convulse indicating this was over, Artemis’s veins ran dry Adrian found himself licking desperately at the wound silently begging for more. Waves of electricity still thrusting through him.

“Hey Art, Adrian you guys up here”

Louis wandered towards them unnoticed by Adrian who held the still warm form of Artemis, still silently wanting more, his eyes glowed crimson as he looked up at Louis who had frozen, he smiled widely, and leapt at him.

His leap however was stopped midway as a large weight landed on him pinning him to the ground, enraged at being stopped Adrian roared and clawed madly at the ground trying to close the distance between him and that which would feed him. Louis yelped and ran. Adrian bucked heavily almost freeing himself from the weight above him.

“Crysta get up here!!” a male voice called worriedly

Adrian concentrated his efforts and pushed up and rolled, he succeed in loosening his attackers grip and managed to scramble away a little before strong arms locked around his legs and waist, his attacker clung desperately but the grip was loosening fast.

“I can’t hold him!”

“Then let him go” a female voice called up

“No way!”

Adrian twisted and tried to snap at one of the hands holding him; the hand moved and was thrust at him, already bleeding. He instantly sealed his mouth over it and stopped struggling. However the cut was small and little more than droplets bled from it.

“You . . . . Well that’s one way to do it” a female voice muttered “you shouldn’t have stopped him”

“He would have killed the other boy” the male muttered

“So what” the female asked

“Well . . . bugger. I shouldn’t have stopped him” the male admitted

“Stupid mutt” the woman snapped but there was no real anger in her voice.

“What the hell is wrong with him” the male voice muttered releasing his grip of Adrian who shuffled round gripping the hand he was suckling from. Moving from the cut that was healing and slipping fang into a wrist. The male grunted and glared at the pale dunpeal.

“he’s been suppressing instincts, now he’s let go, it will be hard for him to control them, plus he’s most likely starved for blood, he’ll probably go to sleep for a while after this’”

It was this moment Adrian’s mind resurface and he jerked himself away. Fear and confusion more than evident across his face, the tip of his tongue touched his bottom lip finding blood there, the fear escalated.

“Adrian” Samuel said quietly reaching a clawed hand out to him

“Do you believe us now” Crysta asked crouching down next to Adrian placing a delicate hand on his shoulder. He turned to look at her

“I am a . . .” he couldn’t say it, it wasn’t true. He closed his eyes feeling fatigue wash over him, he was so very tired.

“OH SHIT THE GUY!!” Samuel yelled

“Guy!” Crysta snapped

“Louis” Adrian jerked awake remembering that a moment ago he hadn’t been Louis just food.

A sound echoed up from the camp, people, and metal banging together, weapons.

“I think we are going to have to run” Samuel muttered standing “I’ll go see what’s happening” and with that he bounded off.

“Are you ok” Crysta asked rubbing Adrian’s shoulder “tired yet”

“I am a devil” he breathed in shock more than anything else

The sounds grew louder very quickly Crysta looked over the brow of the hill Adrian joined her, spotting those who were his friends racing towards them.

“RUN!” Crysta screeched and the pair turned and fled,

“I . . . thought . . . you were . . . . Meant to be . . . devils . . . can’t you fight? Defend yourselves?” Adrian panted

“You’re stronger . . . than us” Crysta yelled back

“What” Adrian yelled, he didn’t feel strong, he felt weak like he was made from air

Crysta stopped running suddenly and turned to face there followers and screeched, the sound was indescribable, Adrian felt like he had been swathed in cotton wool, he felt protected and soon he realized he was, as the humans who got close enough fell to their knees blood trickling from their ears.

Suddenly Samuel bounded into view having shifted his form completely to that of a wolfs, he was huge! The size of a small pony at least! He yipped and Crysta leapt up and the two bounded off, Adrian surprised himself by keeping pace with the huge wolf creature in fact he found himself over taking it!

Eventually the sounds of the humans faded and the trio stopped running, Adrian found himself not as out of breath as he should have been but the fact he’d been chased by his friends all screaming for his blood made him fall to his knees. Sleep tried to wash over him again, making him feel as if he were some where warm, safe and soft; he collapsed onto the forest floor and lay there gasping.

“Well” Crysta smiled, how could she smile at a time like this Adrian thought “well, I must say I thought that went rather well”

“Are you mad” Adrian muttered under his breath

“We got what we came for” Crysta shrugged petting the large Samuel between the ears making him whine pleasantly “now about getting home”

“home” Adrian whispered his head was spinning, all he wanted to do right now was lie down and sleep, he wished he was back in his room he shared with Artemis debating some trivial . . . oh GOD ARTEMIS!

Artemis! He had killed Artemis!! How COULD he!! Oh god he truly was a devil, one of the worst surly satin himself had had a hand in his making. No wonder his friends had been screaming for his blood. He had devoured Artemis, drank from his very life stream and delighted in it; he had enjoyed it more than anything he had ever enjoyed before. But the blood that he had stolen sat heavily in his stomach and at the thought of it Adrian felt sick.

He doubled over arms wrapped around his mid section, guilt eating at him as well as nausea, he had killed Artemis but more than that he had enjoyed it, he had loved Artemis while he’d done it, been closer to him than ever before.

Unable to hold on to his consciousness Adrian fell into a nightmarish sleep.

* * * *

He was woken by a scream, a female scream. Crysta had screeched, that same beautiful sound that made men fall to there knees and blood pour from there ears. Adrian sat up, looking around quickly to find the source of Crysta’s pain.

Samuel was nowhere to be seen and three men now held Crysta hard against a tree, one had a hand over her mouth to stop the deadly sound, a forth man appeared holding a sword about to run her through.

Suddenly the sword wielder fell, what was once his throat now no more than a bloody pulp, Adrian hissed baring full length fangs, pure red eyes. The men holding Crysta could do nothing as quicker than even a supernatural eye could follow inhuman claws raked across them, mauling them.

The grip on Crysta was released and she screeched once again causing the human mob to fall to its knees, stopping there advancement. Frenzied, Adrian had no control over himself, it was almost as if his conscious mind had been overridden by the animalistic need to rip everything to shreds.

With supernatural speed he moved through the crowd shredding, destroying and enjoying it.

Crysta watched, she’d stopped screaming now and she only watched. She’d heard about a vampires frenzy, when the beast within took over, she’d even heard of Lord Vladimir losing control of his beast once or twice, but she had never seen it. She watched as Adrian, moved with a feline liquid grace, sending blood stained claws into chests, pulling forth hearts, ripping out bones, peaces of fleshy pulp she could not identify, she watched the pure elation in his eyes as he did it. The vampiric beast was not something anyone would willingly unleash.

When it was over the mob had been reduced to so much wasted flesh and bone, Adrian sat in the middle of it, eyes wide with fear as he looked at the massacre around him, as if he didn’t understand how it got there, or why there was blood covering him.

Crysta moved towards Adrian to see if she could talk to him.

Adrian

It was not Crysta who spoke first but a human boy the same age as Adrian, the boy looked to the bloody mess surrounding Adrian and swallowed before placing his hand to his mouth to stop himself being sick.

“Adrian, you . . . your not . . . you’re not human”

Adrian looked up before standing, staring at the boy with dead unseeing eyes, the boy reached up to touch Adrian’s face almost as if making sure he was real, before leaning closer to him.

What is he up to? Crysta thought but suddenly more hands wrapped around her, holding her. She saw humans, more humans the rest of the camp descend down on Adrian; he seemed just to let them. She opened her mouth to scream but nothing came forth as a hand clamped upon her mouth.

“foul Succubus” a man snapped she brought her teeth down tiny fangs not near as impressive as a vampires, it was enough to make the man let go but no sound escaped her as the ice cold metal slid into her abdomen, she crumpled to the floor.

A sliver blur ripped into the scene accompanied by several Valhalla knights, some drawing a carriage some enjoying the massacre. Samuel smirked to himself

“Look who I found waiting in the wrong place for us” he beamed but stopped instantly

“I think we’re a bit late” Karrasuman whispered

Karrasuman landed silently in front of the fallen Crysta, ebony wings closing gently, a black feather fell to the ground, he knelt down as blue flames seemed to swallow Crysta’s form burning faster than anything before.

“Castlevania reclaims those it bore” he whispered as Samuel knelt beside him

The two stood looking around as the last of the humans fled the scene; gore hung from everything, the clearing reeked of death, a deep voice made them turn

“Lord not . . . . Be happy” the stone troll was crouching but stood slowly small pebbles falling from his cracks, in his arms was the bloody, broken form of Adrian.

* /\\/ * /\\/ * /\\/ *

That was the first time Adrian went into frenzy, the first time he let the beast consume him. The vampire beast is the term we give to the loss of conscious thought when an emotion or instinct takes over, a total lack of control, when the vampire becomes little more than an animal.

Adrian lost control and when he regained control he could not fathom what had just happened to him, why people around him were torn to shreds or why his hands were bloody, why were there bits of human skin under his claws, he had gone almost comatose with the shock, luckily they were saved.

When he next woke up he was home.
