Disclaimer: Castlevania belongs to Konami
not me. I am making £0.00 out of this fic, it is written purely because I have
a burning need to create. Although I would like to own Alucard . . . then he’d
be mine.
Rating: PG-13
Authoress note: I am still unsure why I wrote
this, but it started as a small idea and then took on a life of its own. I
apologize for any OOC, this was wrote to show the slightly more humane side of
Dracula, it is also meant to be quiet
light hearted although there are meaningful points raised.
NOT part of
the Renaissance series

Chapter Five
“If anything happens to them, I’m
holding you responsible . . .
“I will protect them Richter” the
lord of Darkness nodded and stepped out the door behind his child.

Opening
the door the revealed the throne room, typical scene for Dracula’s last stand.
But sitting in his place now was a six year old girl.
Her
legs hung lazily from the chair not touching the floor, her dress looked
expensive, covered in lace, made from satin. Her long and curly blonde hair was
done up in great curling pig tails, she appeared adorable.
“What
on earth?” Maria breathed walking over to the child “honey, what are you doing
here?” the child looked up with tear filled eyes
“Your
not going to hurt me, will you?” the child asked crystal tears rolling down its
cheeks
“It’s
just a child” Alucard whispered
“Stupid
boy”
“I
couldn’t hurt a child” Alucard whispered eyes never leaving the child
“Of
course not Adrian, that’s why a child is what you see before you, it knows you
can’t hurt it” Vladimir hissed “hold Maria back . . . and yourself” the lord of
the dead took the steps forward to the cowering child in his chair
“Please
sir” the girl’s eyes had gone red and puffy now
“Leave”
“What
are you doing?” Maria screeched and tried to go forward, she was held back by a
cold white hand on her arm, “stop it your frightening her!!”
A
viciously clawed hand struck out at the golden girl on the throne and all
watched as she fell half way across the room screaming.
“STOP
IT!!” Maria screamed struggling harder “Alucard let me go! He’s going to kill
her”
“It’s
not real Maria” Alucard hissed wrapping arms around the crying woman “it’s not
real”
“But
she’s only a child” Maria, gripped Alucard tightly sobbing into the ebony coat.
“Take
your true form fragmented god, show them”
“Please
make him stop” Maria whispered when she was suddenly forced to the floor by
Alucard as
The
child seemed to shimmer delicately in the air for a moment before exploding. A
mass of twisted limbs, eyes and mouths stood or squatted where the child had
once stood.
“Oh
my god” Maria hissed

“You fought that” the boy asked
amazed
“It was surprisingly easy, Vladimir
and Alucard did most of it” Maria shrugged
“Wow” the boy breathed
“Dracula was right, the creature
really was weak and frightened, within a few minuets all that was left of it
was a stain on the carpet that would not be there when the castle rose again”
Maria concluded.

The
castle shook hard, stones crumbled. Alucard lifted Maria and bolted, moving
faster than any human ever could. They collided with Richter outside the library;
he was limping badly still but was surprisingly able to manage a hobbling run
as the three fled the crumbling castle.
Once
outside they turned and looked back.
“They
stayed” Alucard whispered putting Maria down, she instantly wrapped her arms
around him
“I’m
sorry” she muttered against him, a pale hand ran paler fingers through her hair
lovingly
“It
is not your fault my Lady” he whispered
“It
is strange but there is a small amount of regret in that” Richter gestured to
the now completely fallen castle, he paused a moment “when it next rises things
will be as they have always been”
Alucard
nodded and turned away, letting Maria go, he started towards the woods.
“You
aren’t going to leave us are you

“And
then . . .” Maria continued but was interrupted.
The
door suddenly closed with a bang, the children looked at each other before a
cry of “
“Every
time, completely outnumbered” Adrian Feinhight Tepes muttered to himself,
shooing a child away from his legs.
Maria
paused a moment just to look at him, still looking as young as the day she had
met him, while she herself had withered and aged.
“What
are you thinking” he asked, kneeling on the floor beside her, a mirror image of
what the children had been doing a moment ago
“Just
about how beautiful you are, and will always be” Maria smiled but sadness
rested in her eyes
“You
will always be beautiful to me, for eternity”
The
end.
