Chapter Four

They ran, they ran faster than Maria thought they could back to their room.

“We have to get out of here.” Richter said when they returned to the room they had lived in for the past week.

“No!” Maria snapped “we can’t leave him here.”

“We will come back.” Richter soothed. “When we have recovered and they are not expecting us. We will come back I will kill Dracula as I did before.”

“But what about Alucard, we can’t just leave him here.” Maria sobbed, seeming not to have heard Richter’s words. “we can’t just let his father do . . .” she couldn’t finish

“We have to.” Richter sighed, “We’ll get him when we come back.” Maria looked shocked and appalled, her mind running off on its own course, automatically thinking Richter meant come back and destroy him with the castle. She felt herself becoming angry.

“I won’t let you hurt him.” she snapped, Richter frowned “I . . . I love him.” for all she was tiny and blotchy from crying she looked fierce at that moment “I will fight you Richter, I don’t want to but I can I can’t just let you hurt him.”

“Maria Renard,” Richter spoke softly a small smile on his face “For you I would move the sky.” Maria frowned confused “if that’s how you really feel then I would bind him for you, I would keep him forever in a cage in my basement if he continued to stay wild.”

“That’s not making me feel better Richter.” Maria huffed “I don’t like the thought of his father . . . raping him but I don’t like the idea of a cage either.” She felt herself become even more feint than before when she realised her words were wrong that it would not be rape.

“I’m doing the best I can.” Richter laughed a little and Maria joined him, her emotions running high and fickle at this moment.

“Isn’t a cage a bit extreme?” a voice behind them made them jump “I am after all quiet civilized, a great deal more than you, I think.”

“Alucard?” Maria asked shakily turning to find the dunpeal had walked silently into the room without knocking. “Are you alright?” she stood and started towards him but Richter’s hand on her shoulder stopped her. The dunpeal smirked at his action; it was amusing to him to see the unsure nature of Richter’s stare.

“I have not come here to harm you.” The Dunpeal spoke slowly as if to children,

“Then why?” Richter snapped.

“I have come to inform you that you no longer have my protection.” Alucard said simply “you are no longer bound here. Leave.” And with those simple words he turned and left.

“We have to get out!” Richter snapped pulling Maria to him, “I smell a rat here.” Maria frowned what could Richter mean. Then Alucard’s words came back to her, ‘I have removed my protection.’ That meant that they were free game now, anything and everything in the castle could attack them at any moment. Maria felt her blood run cold.

“Richter the whip.” She breathed; Richter looked pained and drew the weapon. He shook his head. The weapon that had protected so many people for so long, the weapon that only his family could use, the weapon that Dracula had cursed when they arrived was still dead in his hands. Somehow Richter knew that when they left the castle the curse on the whip would fail but only then for now it was useless, they were defenceless in a place filled with monsters. He felt Maria shaking against him.

“Its useless but we have to go now!” Richter dragged Maria to herself and started towards the door. The corridor was empty and silent and he raced down it pulling Maria with him. The next few rooms were empty as well. This gave Richter pause but he dared not think about it to hard, it was to frightening. Perhaps an ambush had been set earlier. He shivered but his senses remained silent, there was nothing here. But then came a room that Richter was not looking forward to in the slightest. The main hall, Alucard had explained that this was the room used often to house events. Grand feasts, courts and great balls. Richter knew that if something was happening this would be the room in which it happened and it was with trepidation that he opened the door to see.

A room filled to bursting with all the creatures of Castlevania.

“Ah Belmont.” Dracula seemed pleased to see them. Maria bit her lip, he looked so like Alucard, or rather the dunpeal looked so like him, the vampire lord was fiercely handsome and proud, his features sharp and beautiful. Alucard had the same features but his were softer, his nose and chin smoother than his father’s, softer. But when Dracula smiled at them Maria felt herself jump, Alucard’s smile and his father’s were identical, they could have been the same person. He stood in the centre of the room and the surrounding crowd parted to give Richter and Maria a clear walkway to Dracula which they took.

“I was wondering where my son was.” Vladimir continued “He was supposed to be coming to me here but then,” the vampire Lord looked down at the werewolf in human form at his side “word was brought to me that we have guests.”

“Guests.” Richter hissed,

“They seem to have finally decided to act.” The Lord of darkness breathed, Maria watched the large pool fearfully, what was happening. Then suddenly the pool shifted and in perfect clarity she could see the entrance hall. More importantly she could see men, there were five in all and Maria recognised each and every one of them. They were men from the village.

“Oh god no.” Maria breathed as the men moved forwards as a unit, killing zombies and occasionally a warg. The great wolves fell with deafening thuds and Maria felt her stomach flip when one of the men was crushed beneath one of them. Then suddenly the four remaining men went deathly still, something had their attention in front of them. Maria felt her blood run cold as Alucard walked into view. Dracula smiled, Maria bit her lip hard, part of her was terrified for the men, Alucard was dangerous when he choose to be but a bigger part was in fear for the dunpeal, who she had finally admitted to loving. What if he was hurt, he was outnumbered and completely alone.

But she need not have worried for him, the men fell quickly and without much of a fight. One managed to land a blow with a mace to the dunpeal’s right shoulder and the dunpeal cried out silently. The pool did not give sound as well a sight, but Dracula hissed loudly when one of the mortal men harmed his child. The dunpeal was fast, faster than Maria or Richter could have guessed; one moment he was stood facing down a group of mortal hunters then a wolf had torn one of them down and ripped out the bulk of his throat. Then Alucard was a safe distance away snarling in a most undignified way, blood coming from his shoulder from the blow that had landed when he had torn down one of the men. His sword moved faster than the mortal eye could follow and the man’s mace and arm fell to the ground. Maria felt herself weeping loudly and turned her head to Richter; who held her so she would not have to see.

“My son,” Dracula spoke after a few moments “has returned to us. The Belmont’s no longer have their hold on his mind; he is free again to be with us, with me.” Maria thought she heard a sound of relief in the vampire’s words but it could have been imagined. The sound that rose up from the monsters around them deafened Maria; it was not simply clapping but rather a mishmash of sounds, clapping, roaring, squawking. All sounds of joy and victory.

This was where Alucard clamed he belonged.

The sound of the door opening caused the crowd to fall into silence and Maria finally took her head from Richter’s shoulder. Alucard had returned. He was almost covered in blood, great lines of it stained his clothes, face and hair. His eyes were still glowing, they almost seemed to throb. He was shaking Maria noticed and she felt bile rise in her throat, he wasn’t shaking, he was trembling, he’d enjoyed that.

In his hand was a mans ankle and attached to said ankle was a man. He was semi conscious, he was bleeding a little but it seemed the dunpeal had simply knocked him down. He’d been brought back, as an offering. Alucard smiled when he reached his father. The smile was cold and hard, Maria felt herself begin to cry again, she had wanted for so long to see Alucard smile and now she had it made her weep. For it was not what she wanted it to be, it was a vicious expression that shaped his face like his fathers.

Dracula beamed proud of his child and apparently pleased with the gift brought. Maria bit her lip hard enough to make it bleed as she watched Dracula lean down to his son and gently with the tenderness of a lover, lap the blood away from his child’s face before covering his mouth with his own.

The kiss was wrong, Maria felt her legs go weak and only Richter’s arm around her kept her upright. It was too much, too much. Alucard made a small sound of pleasure and Maria felt Richter start to shake again. It seemed to last a lifetime, Dracula seemed to be trying to pull his child’s soul out through his mouth. Teeth and fangs were clearly doing damage as blood began to trickle down the line where their mouth’s joined. Then Dracula pulled back, his eyes clouded slightly, the look on his features one of predatory hunger, to feed and to fuck. His mouth went down trailing blood on his child’s chin and settling on the curve where neck met shoulder. Alucard’s small half cry let everyone know when the dark Lord had bitten down. Small pale hand’s clutched at his father, holding on tightly to keep himself upright. His eyes clouded, he was well and truly lost to them.

However, Dracula did not feed for long.

“It seems we still have guests.” He breathed to his child. Alucard now trying to support his own weight looked to the Belmont’s. His eyes clouded, Maria doubted he could see them.

“You can’t even speak can you?” Richter demanded, Alucard seemed to be collecting himself for a moment

“A great deal better than you can I like to think?” He managed; his voice was thick and heavy, like a man after sex. Maria felt herself weep again, Alucard frowned at her for a moment and Maria stopped, she recognised that expression, perhaps there was still something to save.

“Alucard! Alucard listen to me, you’ve got to fight this, you’ve got to come back to us.” She wrenched herself away from Richter and moved towards the dunpeal and vampire. “Please you’ve just got to . . . I . . . I love you.” She took a deep breath to continue but a short sharp clip from Dracula sent her reeling. She flew backwards caught by Richter, and the vampire king tightened the grip he had on his child.

“Thieving lying whore.” He spat at Maria who was slowly being helped to her feet. “You would kill him; you would take him and take away that which makes him beautiful; you would turn him into cattle.” Alucard looked at his father fearfully and his own grip tightened.

“you.” Richter swallowed “you’re just going to let him, he hurt her!” he was yelling again at the dunpeal who now drew away from his father and hissed at the Belmont. Richter drew back his hand to strike the dunpeal but as it moved forwards again it was caught at the wrist by Alucard who tightened his grip just a little and heard bones snap.

“I told you to leave.” He hissed, Richter swallowed his own cry and looked at Alucard, his eyes were strange, changing colours constantly, clearly his emotions were unstable and high. He threw Richter back and returned to his father.

“You have removed your protection?” Dracula asked his son.

“Yes father.” Alucard answered, his voice becoming slow and lazy again as his father nuzzled gently at the healing bite marks on his throat, Richter shivered it was far to much like the afterglow for his tastes. Dracula turned to face the Belmont’s

“Then you are free to go.” He breathed; he laughed when Richter grabbed Maria’s hand and dragged her away, fleeing the castle. He turned to his son, his beautiful boy who had come back to him at last, after so many long years apart they were together again. Family. He couldn’t help feeling truly happy.

“I removed all my protection from them and the deal has been finished, you have released them.” Adrian spoke with a small smile gracing his features. Dracula watched his child curiously, it was so strange how this creature could look so innocent while covered in blood, his father’s teeth marks in his throat still open and bleeding a little.

“what are you saying?” he asked his son, Adrian didn’t say anything but gently removed himself from his father’s arms and followed the Belmont’s out of the room, his skin shimmering as he did so, his form changing to give him greater speed.

Times like this Dracula thought were the times when he really loved his child. Little did the Belmont’s know they would never make it out of the castle.

End story

Authoress note: Random and OOC in places but it was fun to write. I’m so sick of Alucard always being portrayed as a wimp. So I thought I’d make him evil lol. Evil but tragically so.
