On the left: famed W2 Head. They say with mild porting can outflow many big block chevy heads. Exhaust pipes that fit this cylinderhead are expensive! So, I decided to buy a cheap set of small block headers and make my own flange. The stock small block headers on the right have rectangular exhaust ports while the w2 head on the left has oval shaped ports. |

This is the method I used to make the flange template. Masking tape applied over the exhaust ports, then trimed with an xacto knife, then carefully peeled and applied to thin cardboard. |

Flanges cut and then cleaned with a grinder |
Cardstock template traced to 5/16 X 3 inch hot rolled mild steel. |
Completed flanges. |

Next step is to reshape the tubes and weld on new flanges! Stay tuned..... |
