-Fort Myers Beach Observer.-
It's about what happen in a meeting of the council
of the Town of Fort Myers Beach. They analyzed the
problem caused by the feeding of the poor and the
homeless by the churches of this area.
Some people express their feelings about those
programs and explore the possibilities of passing
same ordinances prohibiting such practice.
Same interventions had been a little more
enthusiastic and excited, but I had been in this
area for about ten years and could understand
how some people express themselves.
However what came to my attention was the sheriff's
intervention. Stating that he only could act according
with the law. Those programs tend to encourage.
Then he made a statement that gave me some to think about:
- "It's just like a dog on the street. If you feed them,
they are going to come back". -Observer 3/22/2006-
This is the analogy of our sheriff.
(I leave this note only for anyone who didn't see this
article, have a chance to reconcile their sentiments with
the ones express by the sheriff.)
Wasn't the first time this subject had been discussed
in municipalities of Southwest Florida, and the problem is
compounding every time they push the homeless out of a town
or city.
Nobody came out in those meetings to present or explore a
possibility of allocate another area to accommodate this
people with shelter and food.
In my view the thinking of Darwin steal alive in this area;
but I don't know if this isn't the way to create a fertile
ground for outlaws or even terroristes. We only can push
people around to certein point befor thei star to be angry
and revolt.
Hope it never come that far, but if it do, I wonder if the
nazism don't come alive again.
