Andrew was intelligent
he could reconcile the number of the crowd, with the mere 5 loaves and 2 fish, to know that humanly this was impossible.
So it had to be a work of God
Most would have not bothered with such an insufficient amount.
What would be the point if he didnt think Christ could do something with this small offering?

Andrew had been a disciple of the Baptist but desired early on to follow Jesus, and was officially called.
Much tradition has evolved as to Andrew's life in later years
with his matrydom occuring in Patras of Achaia in Greece.
It is said that he was crucified upside down on an "x" shaped cross
later called and to this day known as St. Andrews cross.
