Clicques and Criella met at a jewelry store, where they were both attempting to buy the same bracelets: big, colorful plastic bracelets, the kind that are given to little girls but look really fun and funky with everyday wear.  Their eyes met and they smiled at each other.  From then on they were always together.

"Hi," Clicques and Criella said in unison, and smiles wreathed their faces.
"I'm Criella," said the red-head, who was obviously the more confident girl, as she picked up a red bracelet.
"I'm Clicques," said the shyer girl, who was dressed in minty-green and who picked up a green and black bracelet.
Leaving the store they found themselves both heading in the same direction, and Criella invited Clicques over for a drink and a chat.
Once they mentioned their mutual passion for jewels, it was clear to the two of them that they should stay together.

Both girls shared a passion for jewels, and eventually they bought a little store together where they sold them.  Clicques cut and polished every jewel that came their way to brilliance, and sometimes set them in rings or necklaces, and Criella used her brilliant social skills to make friends with their customers and sell the jewels.  They did very well and were able to keep quite a few jewels.
However, a big new chain jewelry store moved in across the block, and suddenly Clicques and Criella were struggling to keep business flowing.  When it seemed as if they would lose the store and all their precious jewels, Clicques and Criella became desperate.  Obsessed with jewels and their business, they resorted to becoming jewel thiefs.

At first it was just small stuff, like little pawn shops or thrift stores, where Criella would keep the clerks busy and Clicques would quietly slip little gems into her pockets or purses, and then they would buy maybe one cheap little thing and leave.  But soon they discovered that the extra jewels, although they cut down on expenses, were not enough to keep their store afloat.

They decided to visit the museum just on the outside of town, a jewel museum.
