Meanwhile, while her brother and sister left her to imprint at Eistanza, Crtanza was flown to Lav'intay Castle. It was not on P***. It was in its own little place, and Crtanza loved it. Being naturally inquisitive, Crtanza scoured the Castle top to bottom, and made quite a lot of friends, people and draks alike, and a few more intriguing characters (those who could forgive her fiery temper). But the draks were what Crtanza loved the most. They had brilliant colors, colors Crtanza had never seen before, never heard of, names such as Rain and Pearl, Desert, Earth. The draks had small, almond-shaped, lustrous eyes that fixed her with a calculating stare and seemed to laugh, and huge fluffs of mane around their long necks, four wings, and large spiraling horns. However, she knew almost nothing about them, besides the fact that they were beautiful and wise and she might imprint one. And then she found a little book, and it told her more about the draks, to her relief. Crtanza smiled absently as she read about the drak way of speaking. I never knew that they could lisp, she thought, and chuckled. She was pleased to find that they spoke outright, instead of with their minds like her siblings' dragons, which drove her crazy. And that they could learn her language very quickly...that was a blessing. Then she read something that both confused and interested her. Draks were not simply something magical, they were actually creatures. She didn't know what had made her think that they weren't; perhaps the mystical wonderfulness of them had hazed her mind. The book read as such: Drak taxonomy: Kingdom Animalia, Phylum Chordata, Class Squamavium, Order Squamae, Family Magnus, Genus Drakkus, Species Drakkus. Crtanza set the book down and went to her little hole in the wall, her home away from home. *** Crtanza was once again merrily baffled. As there were chen in her land of Danach, there were fairy draks, little draks, in Lav'intay. And she had managed to acquire three eggs! The fairy draks were beautiful. |

The three fairy draks followed Crtanza wherever she went and generally caused her quite a bit of trouble. Rain and Frou often banded together to play tricks on people, and Eana would tag along, to make sure they didn't get into too much mischief. But whenever Crtanza wanted them, all she had to do was whistle. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Excerpt from Hatching... "That one will need to be watched,” the High Princess murmured to Aaront as the little female forest was herded from behind her mother and placed for everyone to see. The small drakling’s head bobbed happily as she eyed one young girl who stood nervously fiddling with her gold and green hair ribbons. The forest tilted her head sideways, seemingly amused and then she rose, gracefully making her way towards Crtanza. “I am-“ but the drakling stopped her introduction. “Zahletel,” the Water--her mother--concluded with a croon of approval. “Nice to meet you, Zah,” Crtanza said in a choked sort of voice. The girl could not refrain herself from tearing up as she placed a hand gently on the head of her bond and stroked the delicate fur. |

Crtanza stroked the neck fur of her large forest drak, smiling peacefully. She was so anxious to show Zahletel off to her siblings.. Zahletel spoke, in a soft--yet somehow firm--lisping voice, "I hope I am not merely a trophy to you." The words, though bitter, were voiced in an amused way, and Crtanza smiled. "You are, I suppose, in a way," Crtanza admitted, "but so much more to me than that. You are like a sister; you are my bond." Crtanza crawled onto the back of the drak, leaning against the soft neck fur. Zahletel got to her feet and spread her wings, vaulting outside into the cool morning air. Crtanza and Zahletel have been granted the honor of becoming the watchdragon pair at the Ilori Cliffs... |
