"Is not, Sappho!" PERSONA: Rubiae GENDER: Female AGE: About nineteen ORIGIN: Danach OCCUPATION/RANK: Cathair Utopian's presiding Huntrider HAIR: Ruby red EYES: Grass-green PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Athletic is a good way to describe her, since she's been hard at work (and play) since she was a little girl. Such is the life of a woman in a Keep. However, she is obviously feminine. CLOTHING: Prefers a red and blue one-piece dress. She does, however, wear little spandex shorts underneath, to retain her dignity and to allow her to move around (and not get into a difficult situation while riding). She often carries a short sword around, because being a Huntrider can be dangerous... FAMILY: Besides her parents, who work in a Keep, Rubiae has two obnoxious younger brothers, named Sappho and Diam. Rubiae often blends their names into a smaller name, especially when she wants to annoy them: "Sam." RELATIONS: Rubiae has a special fondness for the rider of purple-green Changeanth, C'toni (who imprinted @ the Cathair and was Found by Rubiae and Maoith) SKILLS: Rubiae is a skilled Huntrider and swordswoman. PERSONALITY: Friendly, level-headed, and patient. She is also rather playful and a bit of a tease. CLUTCH (@ DARK MOON) IMPRINTED: # 5, Sveiketh & brown Salvath "Is too, Diam!" "SNOT!" "STEW!" Rubiae rolled her eyes, and grabbed her younger brothers. "That's just gross, Sam." When Rubiae was irritated with her brothers, she called them by a joint name-- Sam--which they hated. "Rooo-biii! Don't you call us that! It sounds too Terran!" "Yeah, whatever that means!" Rubiae pretended to knock their heads together. "Well, it's easier to say than 'Sapphodiam'! Do you even remember what you were fighting about?" She dropped them. "Um.." "Ummm..." "Ummmmmmmmmm infinity!" "I can umm longer than you!" Rubiae threw up her hands. "There they go again...They can't keep still for one minute!" Rubiae tossed her strangely natural short red hair--what she was named for, as well her brothers had blue-grey and white-blonde hair..her parents loved the sparkling gems that their children were semi-named for--and stalked out of the room, to hers. Living in a keep was hectic, especially when the only people your age were drudges or guys--they scoffed at her tomboyish ways--and you had not one, but two, younger brothers. Luckily, two of Rubiae's best characteristics were her patience and presence of mind. They were employed every day. Rubiae sighed, and flopped on her bed, opening her journal to an empty page. For awhile, she just scrawled nonsense doodlings on the pages, but then, she was hit with inspiration, and began to write. My brothers are driving me crazy! If I had not inherited my mother's stamina-the stamina of all women in a keep, or otherwise, it seems-I would be stark raving mad! Shards.. Satisfied, Rubi laughed, closing--and locking--her journal. She could never trust Sappho and Diam not to poke through her room, like she had repeatedly told them not to. They also tended to surprise her right after her showers by bringing their friends over to gawk at her. Rubiae blushed, just thinking about it. She had always been a little uncomfortable about the more feminine aspects of her body--she had always been a lithe, boyish creature before she started to get curves--and her brothers knew it. If she didn't get away from them soon, she was liable to explode.... Luckily, she was standing at Dark Moon.... Rubiae sneaked through the halls, quietly past the room that her brothers occupied. She slipped outside, for she had heard that a Huntrider had come, from Cathair Dark Moon, and she wanted to see the dragon. As she walked up to the Rider, she smiled, and held out her hand, after straightening her short skirt and bright red shirt. Cheche grinned back, and shook Rubiae's hand. "Hello, I'm Cheche, the rider of Raimith." "I'm Rubiae, daughter of Silvanor and Diasama. Older sister of Terror 1 and 2." Cheche grinned, but then her eyes grew hazy. "I came to see your dragon. Raimith, is it? A beauty.." "Oh, what did you say? I was busy listening to Raimith..who says you have been Found!" Rubi accepted this with her usual coolness and nonchalance, but inside she was all turbulence. "I'm so glad. Where?" "Dark Moon. You seem SO ecstatic," Cheche remarked with wry humor. "Oh, I am, this is my usual attitude." I do not want attitude. I want the person within to stand on the Sands. Be EXCITED, for shards sake! "Excuse me?" "Apparently Raimith bespoke you. A great honor." "Oh. I mean, let's go!" More like it. Needs work. But come.. Rubiae laughed, and went with them. My life could not be more crazy! |

Rubiae hummed softly to herself, and green Maoith, the wonderful dragon she had Imprinted, bugled softly. Sing! "I can't sing!" Sure you can. Rubiae sense a chuckle in her dragon's words. The bright green dragon was feeling awfully cheery today. She was bright and happy and her gorgeous lime color was radiant..Rubiae thought this over. "Maoith!" she screeched. Yes? her smug voice replied. "You're want to be in Chase!" It took you awhile! "Aw, shaddup." Rubiae patted her dragon fondly. "I suppose I should sign you up. Are there any dragons in particular that you've been eyeing?" Weeeeelll....You know C'toni? "Yes, of course. We Found him, and he imprinted that lovely purple-green Changeanth." Maoith's rumble sounded almost like a purrrrr... Of course..I sort of have had my eye on him, lately...and I know that you have a soft spot for C'toni. "Yes...he is a nice lad," Rubiae said, wistfully. "But aren't we a little...mature, for them?" Rubiae grinned. Stop teasing. You just don't want to have to settle down. "And my job, remember?" She sighed, and a dreamy look came over her. "But if I must, I must! C'mon, let's go find Chevhe." Rubiae lay belly down on the warm rock outside her cathair, catching a few rays, her shirt set aside in order that her back would tan completely. As always, Maoith was present, a few feet away, watching the male dragons pose and posture for her as she snarled gently to herself. She was not, however, altogether annoyed with them; after a long career of Huntriding, she had considered herself fit only for that noble job, and far too old to be desirous. And now she happily admitted herself mistaken, as the young whippersnappers flitted back and forth across her view. Even a copper, fancy that! she exclaimed, and Rubiae, who had dozed off, came to with a groan. I really wish you wouldn't do that, she snapped telepathically. Maoith only smirked. A bit disappointed, are you, that C'toni and Changeanth haven't been seen around these parts for some time? Rubiae ignored her for a moment, then sighed, rising to the bait. Well, yes, if you must know. I confess, I had hoped that C'toni had feelings for me...I myself have come to like him quite a bit, even love him, she murmured regretfully, but perhaps I am a bit old for him, like I thought previously...and he may think the same. Nonsense, Maoith replied, snorting. If I, a crusty old green, can attract this much attention, then you, still an attractive young woman, could ensnare him just as easily. Besides, how do you know he's not around, and is just too shy to come talk to us? "Because," Rubiae said, raising up a bit and supporting herself on her elbows and forearms (the male riders craned their necks to catch a glimpse..), "I have not seen him, and I consider myself to be rather sharp, and he has not signed up!" She lay back down, her tone disappointedly triumphant. Hmmm...when was the last time you checked? "Yesterday afternoon." Well, I checked this morning. And he is. Oh, hello, Changeanth! "WHAT?!" Rubiae cried, jumping to her feet without thinking and whirling around. Indeed, Changeanth and C'toni were hovering no more than fifteen feet away. Rubiae grinned broadly, her heart suddenly light, and she waved... Ridermine, you may want to consider putting a shirt on before you do anything else...Maoith said, her voice tinged with amusement. Rubiae blanched, casting about for her top. Somebody whistled. Rubiae went scarlet with mortification as Maoith picked the shirt up with her tail and tossed it to C'toni, who blushed furiously. Rubiae let out a strangled scream, turned, and ran inside, arms clasped about her. I don't know why she's making all that fuss, Maoith remarked, she has nothing to worry about. She winked at Changeanth, and went inside. The spectators could hear muffled threats coming from the inner cathair... "HOW could you DO that?" Rubiae demanded of her sneaky bond. Do what? Rubiae snarled dangerously, sinking down into the hot bath, her only comfort. "Now he'll probably withdraw from the chase!" Oh, I doubt that, Maoith said, grinning evilly, he'll probably try harder. "Oh, YOU!" Rubiae threw the soap at her dragon and submerged her head beneath the soothing waters. Be nice to me, or I won't LET him catch me. Rubiae popped back up, glaring at her dragon. "You wouldn't have a choice." Oh no? Let's see...Maoith stalked out of the cathair, tail a-twitch. I think I'll begin it now! "Wait!" Rubiae cried, scrambling out of the bath and into some clothes. "I'm sorry! Wait for me!!!" |
