Catherine had a necklace with a key on it, she kept it under her shirt but every now and then Gil caught a glimpse of it. However one day he stopped being able to see the chain around the back of her neck and this aroused his curiosity. Every time he talked with Catherine he thought about asking her about it.

Finally, one night as they were sitting in the break room, he brought it up, "My mother gave me the necklace." She started, he waited for her to continue, "When I got it, it had five little ornate keys on it.

"Eddie has -or had one-, I gave one to Lindsey, she keeps it on her backpack. My Middle-slash-High School best friend has one and my sister has one, of all the people in my life she's stuck by me longer than anyone else."

"But what's it mean?"

"It's the key to my heart."

He paused again, "Who has the fifth?"

"And the way it's supposed to work is that when you find the person you want to give the last one to you've found the person you want to spend the rest of your life with."

He was afraid to ask again, "But who-"

She grinned at him, "Check your pocket."

He reached into his pocket and pulled out a tiny ornate key, "How did you do that?"

"That's my secret." She winked at him; she leaned over and kissed him gently on the lips. Whispering against his lips, she breathed, "Gil, I love you."

He smiled and drew her closer to him, and hugged her tightly to his body, "Catherine, I love you."
