| By Nancy Ford: My first experience with Magnolia was in the summer of 69. I went to gym with friends to check out my new school. I started to walk in when a guy stopped me to talk. He followed me around the whole time and wanted to get my phone number and come over to visit me. I was a bit overwhelmed as I never had a boyfriend. As it turned out it was Ken Turner. I couldn't invite him over the next day because I was going to help my parents paint the house. The next day Ken and Barry Walden showed up at my door with their finest painting clothes to help! Needless to say Ken and I were an item for my first year at Magnolia. He walked me to every class and his mom made my lunch everyday. He had painted "Ken & Nancy" on the tailgate of his truck to show his love for me! I loved Ken very much but he was very possessive and wanted me to spend every bit of my time with him. | High School Crushes by Cathi Alcantar Do we have that much space, lol? 9th grade: Mark Kelly...he's still a doll and soooo funny! He's very, very cute! 10th grade: Ken somebody, a year ahead of us...went steady for two weeks, lol. Forgot his last name...sorry, but I remember him well. We worked in Head Start together and he was in Service Gents. Jeff Bennet (well, he looked like Bobby Sherman....CUTE and stared at me from the door of one of my classes. VERY CUTE!). The senior mascot, when we were only sophmores....who was he? Oh yes, Theo. Pam and I would walk behind him in school, lol! He was two years older than we were. Russ Brankov (of course, what 16 year old female didn't have a secret crush on him in school! I never told him that I thought he was gorgious, although he said, "When you are done w/ Rocky (2 years ahead of us), give me a chance." (Can a 16 year old heart, beat 1000 beats per minute?) I had a crush on Frank DeRobbio too. I sat by him in a class and we'd chat and he would talk to his friend about girl stories. I would listen to his "bad boy" stories in shock! But he was absolutely gorgious. Larry Larsen was adorable! Of course, Steve Schmidt was a doll! So was Vaughn Tynsik! These were only a few of Magnolia's teen heart throbs! |
