Spike and Frog's Christmas holidays
21 December 2000 Frog and Spikey meet for the very first time.  Frog and 'The Boss' (Auntie Lizzy) have come to California for Christmas and New Year.  A traditional doggie style meeting between Frog and Spikey sealed a promising friendship.

Frog wanted to show Spikey a picture of his other good friend, Penguino, who was in New Zealand for Christmas with Uncle Toby and family.  However, Spikey was only interested in continuing the greetings.
Finally Spike focuses on the Penguino picture.
A bit of good old fashioned joshing.  "Spikey, you sound a bit croakey".  "Just got a bit of a frog in my throat".
Time for a bit of Christmas cheer.  The boys quickly discover that they have an interest in common.
Frog and Spikey offered to make the Christmas mince pies.  However, as the flour and butter would get in their fur, Auntie Cathy was enlisted to help out with the early stages.
What clever frogs and dogs!  Twelve lovely mince pies ready for the oven.
Time for Spikey to catch up on the wine.  Little frog has nearly finished his glass - and is about to go under the table!
The finished products.  Who stole Spikey's glass?
The pies smelt so-o-o-o-o-o good, Frog thought that he would have a little taste.
Oh dear!  What a little frog-pig!  Weren't there twelve pies originally?
Christmas morning - Frog gets a book from Santa.  As they can't actually read, The Boss helps out.
They might not be able to read, but they loved the pictures!
Frog, king of the sofa.  A Christmas crown for a Christmas frog.
After dinner crackers - a small one for Frog ....
A bigger cracker for Spikey - who, by the look on his face, appears to have drunk all the rest of the Christmas spirit.
Funny hats for all the Christmas guests.  Uncle Frank (a REAL American!!) gets into the spirit.
Christmas day finally over, Frog starts his holiday tour of the Bay area.  Here he is on the Caltrain (double decker, but not as fast as the Eurostar) on the way from Palo Alto to San Francisco.
The boys at Alcatraz - posing in front of the Golden Gate Bridge.
Oh no!  Boys behind bars (in common with Al Capone, the Bird Man of Alcatraz and Sean Connery).  Cost quite a bit to bail them out of there!
Another day, another trip down the California coast.  California surfer frog just loves his Jeep.
In fact, Frog loved the jeep so much, he stayed to look after it - and was so annoyed that he missed meeting a penguin on the beach.

Yet another day, yet another tour.  Back up to San Francisco and Frog sits in the front of the jeep going down Lombard street (the wiggly one!).  Seconds later he was even more green and we were a bit concerned about frog vomit in the air conditioning system!

Frog really liked the Golden Gate bridge - we think that he wanted to get out and swing from the suspension wires.

On the way home, empathy driving with Uncle Robin.
