TIMELY ANSWERS

When reaching up to heaven
With our cries
Sometimes it takes
More than we realize
To bust wide open the doors
To get our answers
But generally
That's when most
Of us just give in

Now it isn't as if we haven't tried
Maybe once or twice or more
But haphazard knocking
Opens up few doors
Or at least
Not the ones
Most would like to go through

Remember, too,
That
asking, seeking, and knocking
Are all action verbs
So it might be necessary
To search with all our souls
Not just for the answers
But for the One who also
Gives the answering words
Yet, sometimes the answers
May not be exactly what
We had in mind
And to our consternation
We begin to find
That those answers often
Have no correlation
To our finely tuned
Sense of time

But I assure you
We should learn to trust
For God knows the plans
He has for us--
Plans for our peace and not harm
Plans to see us through
Giving us hope
In our future, too

Indeed, we can surely rest
As He says "
So be it."
And answers us with

"Yes, yes, and yes!"

To all those answers
Which turn out to be

Oh so very timely
And perfectly for the best
In the timeless
Realms of eternity
