JON HENRY LEE
1968 - 2002
Jon Lee, popular drummer of British rock band Feeder, took his own life on 7th January 2002. He was 33.
It was such a shock when I found out. I received a text message in a lesson from a trusted frind of mine yet I refused to belive the news. I dismissed it as a rumour. It was just so hard to take in. How could it be possible? Unlike Kurt Cobain, there were never any signs of problems. On the surface, everything seemed fine.

A personal memory of mine was on the 'Yesterday Went Too soon' tour, when after the stunning gig I walked around in a daze... to end up standing on Jon's foot! He thought it was hilarious and throughout my embarrassed apologies, he hugged me and expressed his thanks in my turning up. Few band members openly appreciate their fans and Jon Lee was one of the special minority.

He never had an ego, or if he did, he kept it well hidden. Always attempting to keep a conversation going, one thing you noticed when speaking to him was the intense eye contact. The concentration and attention he gave as I asked countless, ridiculous questions were special: he spoke directly to me and no one else. The thought and consideration he gave in all his answers made me feel privileged.

Jon will be dearly remembered for his never ending energy, wit and friendly, enthusiastic approach to everything and everyone.

His dedication to Feeder and his appreciation of the fans were immense and we'll never forget that. Feeder will never be the same but I hope Grant and Taka will continue to create astounding music and maintain Jon's dream.

All my deepest sympathies to Jon's family, friends, Grant and Taka.
