STELLASTARR*~ ARTHUR KREMER
The album was released 13.10.03: check it out!!!
On 19th November 2003, I caught up with Stellastarr* sticksman, Arthur Kremer (in York Fibbers in the middle of the band's first headlining UK tour!) to talk noise, style, and more noise...
How are you?
I'm fine thanks- I'm enjoying this fine city here. It's very cultural and beautiful. I was in town for a few hours and it was nice, yeah- and I'm interested in those ghost walks too!

How would you describe the stellastarr* sound?
... unlike anything else!

You're in the middle of a UK tour at the moment- how's it going?
Great! It's fun to play these intimate venues because it brings us closer to the audience. We supported Jane's Addiction playing these bigger venues, which was awesome, but of course we were further away. But we're supporting Placebo in December... I actually prefer Placebo's music: I'm a real Placebo fan!

How do American audiences compare to the British ones?
I don't think there's any difference. I don't think we'll have many fans here, but at least I like this venue. It's very cosy.

Do you feel a part of the happening New York scene, especially now with the success of Interpol, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and The Strokes?
I'm not truly sure what the New York scene is to be honest. It's great that all these bands do well in the mainstream -less of the nu metal stuff though- but I don't feel we have much in common with them apart from the fact we're all from New York.

Do you think there are any over-rated bands out there?
It's not really my place to say if someone gets too much attention... everyone should get their moment of glory, I guess! But I don't know much about the mainstream anyhow, where I suppose the over-rated bands are.

What's currently on the stellastarr* stereo?
Lots of things! We're not particular.

You're a stylish band... Is style important?
To me it isn't but I suppose to other stellastarr* members it could be. I'm a drummer: I don't know! I guess it is important because people see you, but I'm at the back.

All the same, do you have any fashion tips for us?
Buckles, definitely. And belts!
Worship stellastarr*...
home!
