" We are psychiatrists. We heal the soul. We go into the unknown and heal something that is intangible." A pale thin man in medical garb relates in a calm nasal voice. He stares straight into every pair of eyes of his protégés before him, not even flinching at some of the more challenging ones.

" We bank on sensitivity and deep understanding of the human mind. It is important that we build an almost accurate case file from thin air." He continues.

" How can we tell how accurate we are?" A young student questions.

" There are case by case similarities and most importantly, gut feelings." He replies readily.  " While other medical colleagues has something to look at and analyze, we have to rely on our sensitivity. How sensitive we are, how accurate we will be."

Everyone nodded in silent agreement. "If there are no further questions, I'll end this class here. See you tomorrow, gentlemen."

All the students file out of the large classroom. The speaker starts gathering his notes as the low humming of human voices die out. At last he can hear pure silence, as the door swings open again. " Tsuyoshi!"

" Takuya!' A smile formed on the thin face. " It has been a long time! What are you doing here?"

' The last time we met was the night before you left to take up your post here. That's 6 years ago!" Takuya reminisces after they found a small café to sit in for a cup of coffee.

" Yes.'

" You must be the youngest professor they have?'

" Yes."

" You have always been the smartest in class. It's no wonder you made it in under 4 years." Takuya's eyes shone with pride for a friend. Tsuyoshi chuckled with embarrassment while Takuya sips his coffee in silence.

" You can't possibly have time to visit me out of the blue." Tsuyoshi remarks knowingly. " And where's Goro? Did he come with you?

" He graduated two years ago, didn't he? What is he working as now?"

To his surprise, he saw Takuya's face darkens then turn pale. " What's wrong? What happened to Goro?"

Takuya hesitated. He came here in the hope that Tsuyoshi will help Goro but presently he is having doubts about telling his best friend about his problem. Tsuyoshi's professionalism took over and with his extremely persuasive bedside manner he manages to fish the story out of him.

" One really bad mistake that I had made was not to keep a tighter eye on his circle of friends. We never knew who he was hanging out with." Takuya relates bitterly.

" Goro has always been very independent."

" I shouldn't have let him move out then! But he was so excited at the prospect of living on his own." Takuya sighs sadly.

" What made him ill, you do know?" Tsuyoshi prods unobtrusively. Takuya nodded tediously but he refuses to elaborate further. Tsuyoshi waited patiently till he is ready to speak again.
