4/21/04. I seem to be ranting a lot about the JC in here. My LJ was gonna be for that - it's much easier to update - but it's open to some of those people I'm gonna be ranting about. I don't want to become an e-exile just yet, but I do want to vent my frustrations, petty though they may be. There is a group of girls who absolutely worhip actors, to the point where I think they are departing from reality. They act like they *know* him .... as if the articles and interviews they've read counts as personal experience. It's frightening. There's a definite difference between drooling and worshipping. And I'm so annoyed by this one girl's attitude - she's fun to play with in debates, because she repeats the same stock phrases in defense of her favorite character over and over. Heh. Predictable, that one. And after reading through one of her stories - I have to blame it on mobrid fascnation - I had a major giggle fest. She worships the character Ani as much as the actor, in effect blurring the two. She sees him as 'simply misunderstood'. Ugh. Ani could probably murder her own mother and she'd vehemently defend his actions. She teaches children, and her stories are filled with disgusting humor - the same stuff over and over again (no originality with this one!). How many poop jokes, farts, and mooning can one story take?
4/19/04. I was going to post this in LJ but realized that might not be a good idea. But incase others happen to find this site... oh well. Prepare for very opinionated potentially offensive fan fic rant. I hate slash. Not in and of itself, but because for the most part, writers are perverting characters. Overtaken by mobrid fascnation (I was once jokingly warned to not take it up as a hobby) I snooped on some 'net and LJ sites, plus Sue talks about it in chat all the time. *gag* I realize that most slash is written by women, if you can believe. And often involve young men, as in, boys (SW, HP are big fandoms). And often a familial/teacher-student relationship. What's the appeal, people? And don't tell me that slash fic is better written than others - it is, as is most fan fic, someone's personal fantasy that should never have made it out of their brain. I can see the thought process. Obi's really gorgeous! Xan is sexy! Oh! If I put them together, things'll be twice as hot! Snape is sexy! Harry is sexy! Put 'em together and we have a great drool-worthy story! Yay! In a chat with some fan fic writers, someone mentioned that Anne Rice is stupid for forbidding fan fic sites to host stories of her characters. 'She should be honored people are doing' this a gal in chat said. I nearly died laughing. If I get squicked easily, I can imagine what an author would think of the perversion of the characters she's spent years writing... it's like someone's molesting your child. Yeah, this is fairly opinionated, but I've had it with the squeee!!!! fanstasies chicks. I can't deal with the Obidala stories either. It's so way out of character that the author might have just written herslf and her fantasy boyfriend as the characters. Oh wait. 4/12/04. Fan fic is a curious phenomenon. It attracts some good writers - there are some very good writers out there. And then there are those who have really huge followings, and are just really, really bad writers. It baffles me. There is a certain writer in SW who is very well-known; whenever she posts a new story people drool over it. But she writes like a bad romance novelist! I can't read a paragraph or two without cringing at the unnecessary descriptions and silly wording. What do people see in this writer? I've enjoyed some stories that were not well-written, although they were well-plotted and paced. But I certainly know the writer does not have a good grasp of language, and I don't tell her that she does. So what is it with the people who actually do think this one popular writer is good? I found the same thing with another well-known writer; her stuff is good, but golly she has a major problem with putting too much in one sentence. I drown in her stories at times. That type of writing I can't take for long. How can anyone? A curious phenomenon, like I said.
4/7//04. ((((((K))))))) The best friend a hobbit can have.
4/5/04. I hate my life.
2/20/04 ... Hmm. I didn't know that my sister knew who George Lucas was, or gave much thought to him if she did. But I told her that he just decided to re-write the Indy 4 script, and she gasped, "No! Not him!" Guess she didn't like AOTC, huh?
2/19/04 ... I got up more eye candy. Yum. Check it out from the first page. My other new hobby is photo manipulation. Currently, if you check out this page, you'll find out my sister's new job! Hee hee. I also further pondered world domination today ... decided it would be too much work.
2/18/04 ... Wow, it's been a time since I updated last. I realized that this site is open to the web, so I'll be adjusting for that. Look for more eye candy coming up, I'll be adding a new page. Yummy yummy! Within the past two months, I've fallen in love with ROTK, Ray Bradbury, and Isaac Asimov. Yes, an odd assortment, but good nonetheless.
12/09/03 ... In honor of the holidays, I've changed the site a bit. Hopefully it'll come out okay, I really have no idea of what I'm doing. . :) I saw LOTR in the theater again! And it was awesome. I fell in love with LOTR all over again. Not that I ever fell out of love, you know. Hee hee. And Return of the King in less than 12 days!!! Woo-hoo! I also decided to move into an apartment with my sister. :O We'll see how that works out. *evil cackle* Other important news this week: I joined a cult that plans on taking over the world. Figured it would be an interesting change in my life. Nourish my ambitious streak. *more evil cackles*
11/23/03 ... Well, so much for updating my site on a regular basis, huh? Oh well! I saw the TTT:EE and it was awesome! I think I like it better than the theatrical, which is the opposite of FOTR for me. I love all the hobbits, but I think Sam is my favorite now; in my opinion Sean Astin has him exactly as I see him in the book. I am most eager to see how ROTK turns out. And I can't help but feel sorry for Gollum, particularly in the extra scenes. My only problem comes from the changes to the Steward's family ... I don't know why there are so many differences in motivations from the books. I can see a director changing a character a bit to fit screen time and to tidy a story, but in the end, don't they have to end up the same as the book? I've gotten over the "he changed the book too much!" phase long ago ... but I'm still struggling to understand the decision from a film maker's stand point. I just hope PJ didn't mess too much with certain events in ROTK.
10/31/03 ... Yikes. Excitement going on in CA - fires, earthquakes, and funnel clouds! The past week truly has been surreal. Never though I'd see the Fire of the Century in my lifetime. Been neglecting my site recently, too - missed my Anniversary on the web!
10/09/03 ... OMG the actor who plays Sark on Alias is younger than I am!!! 22!!! And he's not British! And he is so yummy as a deliciously evil guy! *runs off to go play on her eye candy page*
10/02/03 ... I've decided I'm going to become a pirate. Or a Jedi. Can't decide which one yet. Or a spy. Or -- a hobbit. Yeah, that's it. I'll be a hobbit Jedi pirate spy. I've heard it's a growth industry.
