Loads of work experience then a Postgraduate Diploma in Broadcast
Journalism which lead to a three week placement at Radio One - I then landed my first job as Entertainment Editor at a station in Newcastle.

How long ago?
I got my first job in 2001

Where would you have been seen or heard since you
started broadcasting?
All the Emap stations because I used to do a lot of packages that went
out on Metro's sister stations. Same goes for a lot of the Capital
Radio (now GCap) stations before Chrysalis bought us (106 Century FM,
Nottingham). I did a few shifts working for Capital Radio in London and read on XFM.

Best on-air moment?
There have been loads like interviewing various celebs like Kelly Jones
and Blue - but recently covering the election at breakfast and
reporting on the results as they came in - it might sound boring but it was a real buzz for me!

Worst on-air moment (embarrassing or otherwise)?
Getting told off for doing live two ways from an awards after show
party in London - no-one told me not to drink!

Describe a typical working day (if there is such a thing!)
Get in at ten, prepare the news bulletins, read the news bulletins,
chase stories, do interviews, produce and anchor the half hour nightly
news programme.

Any ambitions left?
Land any of the above mentioned jobs! Travel around the world,
interview Tom Cruise, become a millionaire.

Biggest influence in your life?
Family and friends - career wise Jeremy Paxman - love him! And Andrew
Marr - I think he's great and I've never seen him stumble!"

Best advice that you've been given and why?
My tutor once told me 'don't become lazy and too settled in your job.'
He was absolutely right. Never be complacent.

Any hobbies or special interests?
A bit of horse riding and recently started going to the gym again. It might sound boring but I do love a good game of chess! I'm really
interested in forensic science as well and watching tennis.

Any advice for those who want to get started in radio?
Do lots of work experience and be prepared to get paid very little! Be
110% enthusiastic and determined to succeed.
