The Magoo Charity Classic was another fantastic success. With 150 competitors, $15,000 worth of goods for auction and 2 surfboards being raffled it was a huge effort to raise over $16,000 for charity. All those members that were involved should give themselves a pat on the back for a job well done. I would like to thank Mick Lowe and Garry Banks for their all weekend effort in the catering tent. Under some really terrible conditions they cooked up a storm. Thanks to Magoo’s idea to turn one of our tents on it’s side as a wind break on Saturday (saved it getting blown into the car park) they could actually cook on the beach.

For those that were not there the weather was the WORST I have ever experienced in any competition. Torrential rain (sideways at times), wind changing direction every hour and 4-5 ft closeout conditions at high tide made it very difficult for contestants and organisers. But thanks to the ‘hard stuff’ of the surfers they hung in and weathered everything that Huey could throw at us. The good thing was that it fined up on Sunday for the finals and we had some epic waves.

The Saturday night auction went off like a charm, my head shave took forever!! Must have something to do with the amount of hair I have! Magoo had the clippers through it in about 5 minutes but the girls took 45 to remove the bristles. There are some pics of the deed in the Newsletter, I hope .
