A Message from the Principal
of
Margaret Daniel Primary
Dear Parents and Students of Margaret Daniel Primary,
Welcome to our school! We are fast approaching the first day of school, August 20th! We are very excited about all the new kindergarten and additional pre-school students that will be arriving! This year at Margaret Daniel Primary we have a new First Grade teacher – Mrs. Rachel Neeley. She is taking Mrs. McAdams place. Mrs. McAdams is moving to Pre-K. We have two additional Pre-K classrooms this year. Mrs. Pennington, Mrs. Bowman and Miss Hacker have been added to the pre-K staff as well. We will have Meet the Teacher night, Thursday, August 16th, from 3:30 – 6:00. You may bring school supplies at that time. Those items that are to be purchased in the office will be available that evening as well. You will be able to update any information that may have changed on your child’s registration at this time as well.
For kindergarten parents that may not know what to do the first day of school:
• Please drop your child off as others are doing by the front awning of the school. We will have several helpers to make sure your child finds his/her classroom. Our parking lot is not conducive to everyone parking and going in with their child. The evening of Meet the Teacher will help orient you child to his classroom location. Teachers will be giving you a name tag for your child to wear as well that will be labeled with his teacher. Do NOT drop off before 7:30am. We have no one on duty until then. Those that do this will receive a letter stating the danger of student left without parent.
• Lunch boxes are just another item that your child will have to keep up with. Our school lunches are very nutritious and students will eat more when it is accessible. Many sealed items are difficult for kindergarten students to open and a lot of time is spent on struggling with wrappers, cartons, etc.
• Parents are welcome to have lunch with their children after the first few weeks of school. Please do not come for lunch until your child has the routine in place. Check with your child’s teacher after two weeks to make sure that this can occur.
We hope that you find this to be one of the best years for your child. We will be communicating with you via email, notes in your child’s backpack and School Notes (link on our school website). Please feel free to email or call for information if you have questions.
Mrs. Kay York, Principal
