"Dedication, determination, heart, and strength are all essential qualities needed to be a champion.  When coming into a squad, we were already part of a team with a name.  In order to maintain that tradition, we must work twice as hard as the squads in the past. Being a cheerleader is no easy task.  No matter how ill you may be, no matter how tired you feel from the day before, no matter how much homework you may have, cheer is the number one priority.  The amount we sacrifice makes the prize that much better. We've traveled all over California and across the nation to Florida, each time returning with a greater sense of pride than when we left.  No matter where we may be competing, we always remember who we are and where we come from.  There is no greater felling that yelling, "We are Century High!"  Each time we compete, we aim for the same goal.  In order to be champions, we must beat ourselves.  The feeling my body has when I walk off the mat, knowing that I did my best, and that I deserve nothing less than the highest reward is indescribable.  Seeing the pride in our coach's eyes and his proud smile makes that feeling more intense.  Each year is a new experience in itself, and we can't wait to do it again." -Victor Salazar, 1998-1999 Varsity Captain
