Kurama was once a thief in Makai (demon world). One day, he was shot by a hunter. His body died so his soul fled to Ningenkai (human world). There he was reborn as a human baby named Shuichi Minamino. He loves his mother very much and would do anything to please her. Before he and Yusuke met, he stole a mirror from Rekai because her mother was very ill and cannot be cured. Her mother can only be cured if he allowed the mirror to take his life. Yusuke saw that Kurama loves his mother so much and volunteered to give half of his life to the mirror so that Kurama will not die. The mirror seeing this just granted the wish of curing Kurama's mother without taking their lives.
His common weapon is the Rose Whip. Later in the anime, he was able to turn into his youkai form. He become Youko Kurama, the cruel, heartless fox thief in Makai. At the end of the story, he decided not to go to college but to help his stepfather in his business.

Kurama once had a girlfriend (according to some and I hope he didn't) and her name is Maya. She used to be Kurama's classmate and has a crush on Kurama (who wouldn't?). She was kidnapped by a youkai, Kurama went to save her and then that's the first time Hiei and Kurama met. They saved Maya and Kurama did some brainwashing on her to forget all about the incident then he made her his gf.
Well Kurama doesn't really like hurting her but I read it in the infos that he has some feelings for her but he doesn't want to say it since he's afraid that it will be too dangerous for Maya-chan. He's too sweet!!! I'm becoming more and more in love with Kurama now! ^_~
