Arram was still sleeping, Sayen was still sleeping... everything was nice and quiet (Polith had the strangest itch to sing, but he didn't) and the sunrise looked already to be a worth while one. Polith slid out of bed and tip toed out of the house- humming softly to himself. The outside morning air was so fresh, the Pernese smiled brightly to himself and pranced a bit as he headed off towards the main gardens. Polith didn't normally wake up this early (he liked sleep as much as the next person), but lately the sunrise had just appealed to him. He liked to watch the big shiny sun come up over the horizon and finally light up the sky... it was nice. And it was a good time to sit and think. Polith liked the solitude, which was hard to come by for most of the day. However, as he looked, Polith's spot looked all but empty and as he neared he made out the form of Beca. Though he had been planning on sitting alone, Polith was not particularly bothered by the presence of Beca- she was a nice dragon, and one that he was rather fond of- a sister of sorts. Polith's heart sank as he came nearer, as he began to make out Beca's posture, which seemed rather sad... Polith hated it when people were sad. He hurried his pace until he was right behind her, and then he became cautious and quiet. Good morning, Beca. He said presently. The dragoness turned to greet him, but only after she had rubbed at her face a bit, perhaps trying to hide that she was emotional about something. "Hello, Polith," she said, her voice strong despite her obvious despair. "What are you doing up so early?" Polith sat down beside Beca and gave her a soft, understanding look. She lowered her eyes, as though hurt that she couldn't hide her pain from her brother dragon. I like to watch the sun rise, Polith said. I take it, that you aren't though. Want to tell me what is wrong? Beca considered Polith for a long moment and then she turned her gaze away from him. The male could see that Beca didn't want to tell him... though certainly she would feel better if she did. "You have got to promise me that you won't tell anyone," Beca said finally, her eyes intense. Why? Polith asked wonderingly. Is it really that bad? Beca frowned at him. "It isn't bad... it's just... something that I would rather keep to myself," Polith nodded for Beca to go on, but she was apparently waiting for him to make his swear. All right, Polith said. I promise that I won't tell anyone... "It is just... well," Beca glanced at Polith tentatively. "It just that, I love Arram, ok?" Beca watched Polith for any kind of surprise- but the Pernese dragon seemed unmoved by what she had told him. And you are saddened by that? Polith asked, clearly confused. "No," Beca was quick to answer. "I mean, yes... he doesn't love me back though, does he?" Her face was imploring, but even before her question had come up Polith's mind had been racing... remembering his promise to Arram, his promise to keep his bond's love for Beca a secret. What was he going to do? I can't say that I know. Polith said slowly, thoughtfully- wondering how he could tell Beca the truth without... really telling her. I never wondered about Arram's female preferences before. Beca was clearly unsatisfied. Polith thought that he might tell her to ask Arram... since he knew that his bond did, in fact, love her back. "I need to get away from this place," She said. "I need to catch my breath!" Polith's own breath caught in his throat- was Beca trying to escape from her feelings? Because if she was, he would only sadden her even more by pressing her to ask Arram... he didn't want that, but he also didn't want to hurt Arram in any way... oh what to do? "Maybe father will let me go offworld to bond... just like Arram did," Beca rested her head in her hands, despairing. I am sure that he would, Polith replied- knowing deep down that trouble was on the horizon... |
