THE BALTIMORE BASH (2001)

I feel I've made some friendships which will last
With people who've emerged from Cyberspace.
I mean the ones who traveled far and fast
So we could get together face to face.
My thanks to everyone who came to lunch,
Your presence was required to make it fly.
But most of all I thank that staunch core bunch,
The ones I call the "Seven Samurai."
And thanks to Steve (see Doris on his bike,
Her head encased in that protective dome!)
And Gene, who made those badges we all like
And hosted an excursion to his home.
Nice to meet you, Marilyn and Ben
(Another Ben, who's not the one that I'm).
It was a pleasure seeing Tom again --
More so since Henrietta came this time!
I'm glad that Vivian we like so well,
Accompanied by genial husband Bill,
Could come. She IS a West Virginia belle!
(And, sensibly, he did not bring his drill.)
Margaret, whose sister is Marie,
Came as her substitute -- a happy touch.
At dinner seatings she could balance me,
Which kept us both from standing out too much.
To Tom's niece Robin, thanks for stopping by.
To Doris we are all indebted still.
And finally, for one essential guy
Who's always there when needed: Thank you, Phil.
It's time to wrap this up. I'll make it snappy
You folks have really made this old man happy.
