The show didn't win any awards in Star Awards 96. But it is believed that it helped Hanwei, Fann and Ann won the Most Popular Artistes Awards in 1995 as it was telecast during the voting period.

RTV times predicted that it would not win the best drama serial in 96:

Well, judges' choice may not be audience's. Jiang Long, (then head of Drama Unit) when interviewed in 1995 as to why a non-melodramatic show like this can be such a hit echoed audience's views. Shows that depict conflicts, violence and hatred can be tiresome. "Morning Express " which emphasises on kindness, care and love is a refreshing change.
This show still remains one of the best motivational drama serial ever produced by TCS/MCS. Though the story revolves around school life, the lessons to be learnt go beyond. There are many, many wonderful things about this show that audience young and old will always remember ....
