| GENERAL DESCRIPTION The finca Chipantun is located at the bank of the Chixoy river, bordering with the National Park Laguna Lachua in the eastern limits. Pastures, teak and cardamom cover more than half of the 1,000 acres farm; the rest of the area is covered by virgin tropical rain forest. Uncovered Maya ruins, tumb hills and cacao trees left by the original Maya population give a special flavour to the site. The Finca offers lodging, food, horseback riding, forest trails, rivertrips, swimming and a lot of bird and wild animal watching. |
| LOCATION The finca is located at a distance of 103 km north of the city of Coban and about 7 km from the National Park Laguna Lachua. The town nearest to the finca is Ixcan Grande at 15 km. From there you are half an hour away from the Mexican border and it takes a 5 hour drive to get to Palenque. Consult the map for further information. |
| HOW TO GET THERE Microbusses leaving for Ixcan/Playa Granda from the bus terminal in the center of Coban take 3 to 4 hours to arrive at Finca Chipantun and charge US$ 5.00 for the trip. |
