What is gold? |
Once there was a very rich man, who had no family left on Earth. His whole life he lived close to God, and did Gods will whenever possible. As he neared the end of his life he prayed to God, "Please let me take my riches to heaven, as I have no one to leave them to down here on earth, and they will do no good for anyone." God came to this man in a vision, and said "It is the way that no one brings any earthly posessions with them to heaven." So the man said "God, Please let me take my things, as there is no one here, and I have followed your will my whole life. If you say no, I will of course abide, however, it is my last desire on Earth." God replied, "Son, because you have been such a good servant, and have done my will, even when you were weak, I will let you bring two suitcases to heaven when you come." Then he disappeared as fast as he came. The man went to his safe, and packed two suitcases full of his greatest possesion...pure gold bricks. A few months later the man passed away, and floated up to heavens gates...carrying his two suitcases of course. As he approached the gates St. Peter was there, and saw the man had the suitcases. Immediately he told him, no one is allowed to bring anything from earth to heaven with them. The man quickly replied, "God said it would be ok." St. Peter looked through the book, seeing the notation, and said, "ah, ok, you may bring them in with you, however, may I see what you have in the bags first?" "Sure!" the man excitedly replied. As St. Peter opened the bags he started laughing heavily as the man looked at him in wonder. "Why are you laughing?" the man asked. St. Peter replied "Because, I can't figure out why in the world you would want to bring up bricks of pavement?!" |
