Just Desserts Part One:

"Gloria!" Ruth Sloan hurriedly entered the kitchen of her mansion. "Can we have that caviar immediately? Mrs. Jacobson is waiting."

"Yes, Ma’am." Gloria responded and went back to working.

"Sorry about that." Ruth returned to the dining room smiling. "Help these days."

"Don’t I know it. Just yesterday Peggy chipped a platter of mine! I was furious. It seems that everywhere you look, she’s doing something wrong." Mrs. Jacobson sounded furious.

"You are deducting that from her pay, I hope." Ruth sounded furious.

"Of course I am, double." Mrs. Jacobson responded matter-of-factly.

"Good for you." Then Ruth raised her voice again, "GLORIA!!! THE CAVIAR!!"

"Yes, ma’am." Gloria entered the room with a silver platter full of caviar.

"Thank-you, Gloria."

"Gloria!" Ruth entered the kitchen after Mrs. Jacobson had gone home.

"Yes, ma’am."

"I was wondering if you could do a dinner party for me next week." Ruth suggested.

"What day next week." Gloria inquired.

"Saturday, the twenty third."

"Very well."

"Good, because I already sent out the invitations. I don’t know what I would have done if you hadn’t been able to do that." Ruth glanced at her watch. "Well, I have to be going now."

"Michael?" Ruth glanced over at her husband, before falling asleep.

"Yes, dear."

"You know that dinner party on Saturday?"

"Yes."

"Are you going to be here the whole time?"

"I wouldn’t miss it for the world."

"Good, because Mrs. Jacobson is going to be there… and you know how I feel about her." Ruth looked and sounded disgusted.

"I thought you two were friends."

"Heaven help me the day I call Mrs. Jacobson a friend. The last time she was here all she talked about was her new Packard."

"Oh." Mike wasn’t paying much attention to the conversation.

"Michael, I’ve been thinking. Maybe we should get a new Packard."

"We already have 2 of them, why in God’s name would we need a third?"

"Well, The Brawnsons have 2 and you know we’re higher class than them." Ruth rolled her eyes.

"Very well then." Mike responded, "I’ll go see about one in the morning."

"AHHHHHHHHH!!" The horrid screeching noise came from downstairs.

"What in God’s name-" Mike rose from the bed and headed down stairs.

"Our kitchen is flooded!!!!" Ruth screamed.
