John Winston Lennon was born on October 9, 1940. John's father was away when he was small, and his mother sent him to live with his Aunt Mimi. John formed a band with his friends from school called the Quarrymen. Later, Paul joined the group, and then George. Soon, the Quarrymen turned into the Beatles with Ringo on drums. John wrote much of the Beatles early music with Paul. John has been known as the smart or intellectual Beatle. However, John was not very interested in school as a child. He attended the Liverpool College of Art in 1957 but later dropped out. This college was where John first met his soon-to-be wife Cynthia Powell. Disaster struck on July 15, 1958 when John's mother died after being run over by a car. |
