According to the "Emmett's Fix-It Shop Talk" article in the November 17th, 2000 issue of THE BULLET, the actor dog that played Floyd's dog Sam in "Jailbreak", as well as Blue in "Barney's Bloodhound" and Spot in "A Man's Best Friend" was known as Pluto to owner and trainer Frank Inn.
Inn says he got Pluto from an animal shelter. He continues, "Pluto had mixed Airdale in him. I bred Pluto to a natural Airdale and got three dogs that looked almost like it, and old Pluto outlived all of his sons---and his sons lived to be from about 12 to 15, but Pluto lived to be about 18."
He adds, "You never realize how many things that Pluto worked in. He worked a little bit in everything. Pluto used to work with about forty other dogs on
THE BEVERLY HILLBILLIES, He did a couple of episodes as Andy Clyde's dog on LASSIE. And he did HAPPY with the talking baby and he was the dog on HAZEL. His sons would stand in for him. He also was the dog on about three episodes of BONANZA.

A footnote to give one paws: The little dog (the trembler) that "follows" Opie home in "Dogs, Dogs, Dogs" was also one of Frank Inn's animals. Frank remembers his name as Arnie. The little fella had a sister who was virtually identical to him, and they often doubled for each other.
