Peleg (Peleg, Daniel, George, John, Johannes), son of Peleg and Sarah (Millington) Oatman, was born in Arlington, Bennington County, Vermont, 23 January 1802, and died at Alexander, Genesee County, New York, on 23 March 1905. He married on 20 February 1840 Louisa Elmer, born 4 March 1819, in New York, and died there 7 July 1885.

Peleg is listed in 1840 in Yates, Orleans County, New York. By 1850 he and his family had moved within the county to Ridgeway, where Peleg was a farmer.
