Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there
came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, Saying, Where is He that is born King of the Jews? For
we have seen His star in the east, and are come to worship Him.
Matthew 2:1 & 2
...And, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and
stood over where the young child was. When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.
And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary His mother, and fell
down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto Him gifts;
gold, and frankincense, and myrrh...
Matthew 2:9 - 11

We Three Kings
We three kings of orient are,
Bearing gifts we travers afar -
Field and fountain, moor and mountain -
Following yonder star.
O star of wonder, star of night,
Star with royal beauty bright,
Westward leading, stil proceeding,
Guide us to thy perfect light.
Born a King on Bethlehem's plain:
Gold I bring to crown Him again,
King forever, ceasing never
Over us all to reign.
O star of wonder, star of night,
Star with royal beauty bright,
Westward leading, stil proceeding,
Guide us to thy perfect light.
Frankincense to offer have I:
Incense owns a Deity nigh;
Prayer and praising, all men raising,
Worship Him God on high.
O star of wonder, star of night,
Star with royal beauty bright,
Westward leading, stil proceeding,
Guide us to thy perfect light.
Myrrh is mine: its bitter perfume
Breathes a life of gathering gloom -
Sorr'wing, sighing, bleeding, dying,
Sealed in the stone cold tomb.
O star of wonder, star of night,
Star with royal beauty bright,
Westward leading, stil proceeding,
Guide us to thy perfect light.
Glorious now behold Him arise:
King and God and Sacrifice;
Alleluia, Alleluia!
Earth to heav'n replies.
O star of wonder, star of night,
Star with royal beauty bright,
Westward leading, stil proceeding,
Guide us to thy perfect light.
John H. Hopkins, Jr.

What Child Is This?
What Child is this, who, laid to rest,
On Mary's lap is sleeping?
Whom angels greet with anthems sweet,
While shepherds watch are keeping?
This, this is Christ the King,
Whom shepherds guard and angels sing:
Haste, haste to bring Him laud,
The Babe, the Son of Mary.
So bring Him incense, gold and myrrh,
Come, peasant, king, to own Him;
The King of kings salvation brings,
Let loving hearts enthrone Him.
This, this is Christ the King,
Whom shepherds guard and angels sing:
Haste, haste to bring Him laud,
The Babe, the Son of Mary.

Joy To The World
Joy to the world! The Lord is come:
Let earth receive her King;
Let every heart prepare Him room,
And heaven and nature sing,
And heaven and nature sing,
And heaven, and heaven and nature sing.
He rules the world with truth and grace,
And makes the nations prove
The glories of His righteousness,
And wonders of His love,
And wonders of His love,
And wonders, and wonders of His love.
Isaac Watts
